Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

First roadtrip with our Mauna Red GV60 was a bust! Have had vehicle for approximately one month and charged flawlessly with my level 2 Grizzl-e changer in my garage. Had also charge well on several free level 2 chargers around town(Red Deer), and on a free Tesla charger at a local hotel with my Tesla Tap adapter! Charged vehicle to 90% prior to leaving for Calgary for son’s wedding and arrived with around 45% SOC. As I was to drive the lovely wife of the groom and the bride’s parents to Kananaskis for photos after the wedding went early day of wedding to nearby fast charger and attempted to charge vehicle. It was a FLO 50 kw charger and as I had FLO card and app assumed I was all set. Charger Initialized with car however immediately stopped charging. After appro. 10 failed efforts decided to try another charger about 7 km away. Again was a FLO 50 kw charger an again similar results. Called FLO helpline and staff were very helpful and tried charger reset and backend IT effort to push the connection to vehicle and overcome whatever was causing charger to disconnect after initializing.
Next called Calgary Genesis and spoke to service advisor who played middleman between myself and technician at the dealership. The technician believed the problem was a charger problem not a car issue while my opinion was the other way. Agreed to take vehicle to dealership as less than 3 hours before the wedding and needed vehicle to get parents of bride and groom to photo shot after wedding. Was able to charge vehicle via Level 2 charger at dealership and while head mechanic at dealership got an error code from the charge port, said it was not reliable error code until vehicle had better charge. They provided me a loaner(non Genesis) after advising there was a recall for problem with rear tailgate and additionally car was giving a verbal notification on shutdown that a window was open despite all windows being closed. Genesis app was also showing passenger window open despite all windows being closed.
GV60 left at dealership Friday at 11:15 AM and Saturday they advised that after trying a variety of fast charger in Calgary they had been unable to charge via a fast charger. Their mechanics were unable to determine cause of or remedy for the charging issue, and therefore opened ticket with Genesis Canada for assistance however as Genesis Canada was closed till Monday I am now back home in Red Deerwith the loaner😩

Ive had my GV60 since June 30th. As of last night I noticed my car only charged from 60 percent to 70 percent (I charge it each night to 80 percent). Tonight my GV60 had issues maintaining its charging schedule. It kept shutting down after a few minutes, it took me 5 or 6 times with me unplugging the charger and plugging it back in again before It was finished charging. I too use a level 2 Grizzl-e charger, but I don't think that's the issue. The garage seems to get a bit warm while charging and I wonder if its triggering a safety measure. If that's the case and my level 2 is causing heat issues, I'd hate to see what a level 3 would do when it's hot out.

In my case heat was not an issue. Only drove 5 km to fast charger and earlier morning so was only 12 C outside. Seemed to be a software issue between car and charger perhaps in handshake process? Would initialize then start “charging” and shutdown immediately before charging got into vehicle. Couple of 31 C days here and inside of garage was quite hot but charged flawlessly so doubt it was heat issue. Seems to me I read someone here had similar issue however turned charger dip switch to lower amperage which resolved issue?

Yeah, I'm going to try that tonight. Ill post back with my findings.

Just wanted to update my post. For whatever reason lowering the amperage of my Grizzl-e level 2 charger from 40amp to 32amp seems to have fixed the issue I was having for now. Thanks Birdman

My radio stopped working today. Other media working ok, but the radio Is dead

I recently got a brand-new Genesis GV60 last Wednesday in LA then drove it to San Diego before Thursday's Comic Con. After Driving back Sunday night to LA and then driving Monday morning to the bay area, I had a check engine light came on multiple occasion. " A possible condition with your Battery Management System has been detected. A full system check is recommended to be done soon. Please contact your local dealership to schedule an appointment". I took it to the Genesis dealership today. Has anyone had the same issues as me?

Wow! Hopefully it's nothing serious and involves the 12V battery vs. the car's battery pack. I've had my GV60 for 17 days and so far no warning lights. Please do let us know what the issue turned out to be and the fix. These cars are so new in the U.S., we are the first group to find out what issues a first model car will bring about. You mentioned the Bay Area. Did you purchase your GV60 from Stevens Creek Genesis?

Sure, will do. Once problems are resolve will let you know. I bought mine from Genesis of Corona near LA. Zero Mark Up's. However, I did pay around 1500 for the PPF add on. Current miles on my Genesis GV60 are 840 miles.

Lucky no mark-ups. Dealer in the Bay Area are marking up the Advanced by $6k and Performance by $7k!

I'm about to head out to that dealer! Did you have to wait extra time for that PPF? What do you think of the quality? Do you live nearby / are we neighbors?

Nope I didn't have to wait it was already preinstalled in advance. Quality is excellent. Zero issues on the PPF.

Ah, then I probably won't have it since it's not listed on my package and I don't want to wait for them to install it... Gimme the car already!! XD

I think this thread should be confined to problems people have had with their cars.
There are other threads to discuss these other issues

Update to situation with my Mauna Red GV60 at Calgary Genesis with inability to charge on Level 3 charger. Genesis Canada apparently has never encountered this issue so are still trouble shooting the issue so my “Little Red Ev” remains in the shop. Additionally they advised there is a recall issue involving the rear liftgate which they have addressed - people may want to check with their dealership on this issue! Finally on vehicle shutdown, the car states “at least one window is open” even though all windows are closed. The Genesis app also shows the passenger front window as being open. Dealership has advised this issue has also been escalated to Genesis Canada as they have been unable to resolve the problem/error message thus far.

Typical first model year glitches. Thanks for figuring these things out before most of us get our cars!

Just out of curiosity, has anyone looked at the monthly air push notification that the genesis app sends out? My first 30 days with the car showed that it consumed 3300 kWH. Which I find extremely high comsidering my milage shows 2700 km.

My first summary had some impossible numbers too.

I've come across another issue - I was using a drive-through bank teller, and while leaning out the window (with weight on the driver's door) the door unlatched and swung open. Fortunately, neither myself nor the door were hurt.

What did the dealership says about "A possible condition with your Battery Management System has been detected."

My Mauna Red remains at Calgary Genesis aweek in and with holiday weekend no prospects of getting it fixed/home until at least next Tuesday or later. Very unhappy with Calgary Genesis - real lack of information/updates on situation and what updates have been given largely place blame on Genesis Canada. In addition to lack of communications from my service advisor Ashley, am upset with her requesting that in order to run battery down they drive vehicle rather than just turn it on, run AC and radio, etc to run SOC down. Then whoever ran the SOC down kept the vehicle overnite at their home! Additionally the loaner I was given is a four cylinder underpowered Santa Fe not even a Genesis vehicle!
