  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Anyone out there installed any of the aftermarket wood dash kits? I see several available ranging in price from $100-$250. Any of the manufacturers better than the other at giving a factory wood trim look? I don't want the cheap plastic wood look.

Why would you want to cover the classy stitched leather?

Stay away from LGT Automotive, located in Canada. I found them on the web and ordered 7-9-09 and as of this date they have not sent the dash kit. I have called and email them several times with no response. They also double billed me, my credit card co removed the 2nd charge. VISA is in the process of removing the 250.16 from my card, after three months and no dash kit.

I don't want to cover the leather. I was thinking cup holder needs the wood and maybe a few select other places. But, I want it to look as real as possible and not like cheap, ill fitted plastic.

...moving this from "Electrical, Lighting, Bluetooth, Stereo, iPod integration, DVD Navigation, Etcetera" to the "Appearance Modification" forum...

Hi,

I have a 2009 Genesis V6 3.8L sedan with the premium package (not tech) that I bought in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The dash, the top of the four door panels along with part of the console came equipped with the plastic woodgrain trim.

The outside of my steering wheel did not come with the plastic woodgrain as shown in the photo.

Photo only added to give you a better idea of the appearance.

The woodgrain in my car is a little darker than what is shown in this photo and looks pretty nice as far as I am concerned.

Depends upon which eratz wood trim you have - mahoganey, cherry, or walnut.

Mixing wood colors is generally not attractive. Most after market kits seem to be mahoganey.

does it matter? the kit covers all the wood parts im pretty sure

It's your car and you're entitled to do whatever you want to it, but in my opinion, I think adding those faux 'dash kit' will make your interior look tacky.

Plus, according to the schematic they're providing, it doesn't cover the center wood piece that surrounds the head unit slot(cd slot).
So you'll have partial wood and partial faux carbon fiber.

Your choice. Good luck.

ooo true, thanks

Bump to an old thread -

Looking to cover the OEM wood with something a little more modern day such as Carbon fiber, piano black etc. Basically, the same look KIA is using for some of their vehicles dashs. I have a friend who has a new Sorento SX and the dash almost made me pass out I liked it so much. I wouldn't cover any of the beautiful leather, but all of the other pieces in the kit I would possibly use.

Maybe?

$247 for real Carbon fiber I'm ready to change!

Or maybe something like this would be much less $
