  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

I live in California where we deal with Fire Ash, Rain, Snow (in the Mountains), Fog; &, rarely, Sleet. Thus, as a VERY PICKY DRIVER who DEMANDS VERY HIGH QUALITY & LUXURIOUS VEHICLES, like Infiniti & BMW, I demand that a REAR WIPER be added to the GV60. Also, REMOVE THAT STUPID & UNSAFE STRIPE that is in the rear window, as seen through the Rear-View Mirror. To me, that is even more annoying & unsafe than not having the Rear Wiper. Finally, ALLOW APPLE CAR-PLAY to ACTIVATE, WITHOUT HAVING TO PLUG-IN A USB CABLE. Really, Cables are so OLD-FASHIONED in this wonderful Blue-Tooth age. Once all 3 of these problems are solved, I will trade my 2023 GV60 in for the updated model. By the way, these are the 3 main problems I noticed, simply by performing a Test Drive in a QV60. Since I am now switching from a Tesla Model 3, to a Genesis GV60, I EXPECT MORE, like my Infiniti & BMW already have. FYI, my Tesla M3 also has slightly FASTER ACCELERATION than the GV60, which is also disappointing! Once I receive my new one, I will be able to better elaborate on any additional issues I fine.
Is this a serious post?. Nice use of capital letters though.

Does anyone have an issue where when accelerating or braking the middle portion of the driver seat moves a little bit?

I'm getting a loud squeak on the breaks whenever I'm in the reverse gear. Anyone getting this as well?

Glad I’m not the only one. Though, it sounds like your issue is more significant than mine. I get a short squeak when reversing into my parking spot at the office - but, strangely that seems to be he only time it seems to happen. I don’t know if it’s happening elsewhere, but that I only notice it there due to the silence and ability for the noise to reverberate off nearby walls.

Just an update for everyone on my GV60 which will not take a fast charge - charges fine Level 1 & 2 but no go on faster Level 3 chargers. My Mauna Red GV60 has been in shop since July 22, coming up to 9 weeks this Friday. After waiting several weeks for a part from Korea, the fix was a no go so we are now back to square one. Finally got a Genesis loaner - nice GV80 yesterday but took much complaining to Genesis Canada to get same. Oh and they have told me to keep my gas receipts as they will apparantly repay me!

That’s fine, I suppose, but you didn’t buy a GV80. What are they saying about getting you back into YOUR vehicle?
I‘ve never leased a vehicle, and fortunately never had such a lengthy problem, but I can imagine someone being apoplectic making monthly payments on a car they can’t drive.

Didn’t lease my GV60 paid cash for same. While both Calgary Genesis and Genesis Canada are very apologetic and claim to be doing all they can 9 weeks without my new car is unacceptable and have told them that. They have indicated we will discuss compensation once my vehicle is fixed - they put this forward not me - however at this stage all I want is my brand new vehicle fixed and back in my possession! While no payments to make still paying vehicle insurance, etc on car that hasn’t been on the road in coming up 2 months😩 Every day I pass my Level 2 charger in my garage gathering dust I get more frustrated!

I do know how you feel. Have owned our GV60 for 7 weeks and 6 of those 7 weeks it's been at the dealer waiting for Genesis to come up with the fix for the battery issue so many of us are having. Was at the dealer to exchange loaner cars yesterday and was talking to yet another owner whose 2 day old GV60 was just being towed in with the same issue as ours. My wife is flipping out and wants to start a Lemon Law claim. She loves the car but wanted to wait because it is such a new model and have Genesis first work out the bugs. And she was right. Would have waited had I known about this.

as I've posted before, this is all very strange as the GV60 has been out in Korea a year now and I haven't heard any reports of these issues. Surely these chips are the same on both sides of the Pacific

Or alternatively due to chip shortages they are now using different chips🤪

Couldn’t you move Insurance to theft/comprehensive only until it’s repaired? With no end in sight, I’d be tempted to save the dollars until I had it back.

Yes have thought about this several times but they keep indicating fix will be done shortly! May have to talk to insurance broker and see what he thinks.

If Korean owners are also experiencing this, would we know about it? It's certainly not like Genesis is publicizing the issues a number of us are experiencing. It's not like the problem is restricted to GV60's sold in North America. We do know a least some British owners are having the same issues. Bottom line for me is it does not matter if 2% or if 10% of the cars have the defect. All that matters to me is that my car has been parked at the dealer for a more than a month and a half and the dealer says it is a "known issue", they can't fix it, and all they can tell me is Genesis is in the process of resolving the problem. No timetable and no details. At this point only Genesis knows how widespread the issues are.

For those currently waiting patiently, what's holding you back from filing a Lemon Law claim? Several states have replacement vehicles included in their statutes/codes. Is that an amicable solution?

Not sure what I would do. Sure, a lemon law can make you whole, but does it?
You have your money back but you still need a car. Anything you buy will be second choice and right now, perhaps at a premium price.

Assuming they gave you a loaner and will come up with a fix, hopefully it is just a memory in a few months wile you enjoy your new car. Depends on the limit of personal patience.

Exactly! I have no reason to think my GV60 will be troublesome long term. I've been an early owner of new models before. Guess I'm a sucker for the latest and greatest :-) I was an early Tesla Model S owner and it's well documented there were early issues especially those related to build quality. But after those were resolved the Model S was relatively trouble free. On the other hand those issues did not mean the car was completely out of service for this long.

I don't disagree with you at all. However, I was only looking at it from the replacement vehicle claim option - Where the manufacturer replaces the vehicle with another. There are quite a few Performance models within arms reach that Genesis might be able to swap in, so you wouldn't have to go searching for one after a refund. Not sure I would want a refund either since we don't know what actually is the cause.

Just wondering if I am the only one having problems with the fingerprint scanner. Usually I have to try at least twice before it works. A few times it gave me a time out for a few minutes due to repeated bad fingerprint scans. I cleaned the fingerprint scanner and I deleted my fingerprint profile then re-entered it, still doesn't work well
