Hey folks! Looking for some help here. I'm basically at the point where I'm losing sleep every night and constantly thinking about it. I'll try to keep the story short but if anyone needs details to help me out then please lmk.
6 months ago I was rear-ended at a red light in my 2015 Genesis Sedan Ultimate (I'm in Canada, so it's the V8 model with AWD). The back end was smashed in pretty good and it wasn't a soft tap. (I suspect the other drive wasn't paying attention or maybe on their phone.) Luckily nobody was hurt.
Car takes about 5 months to repair, mostly due to parts backorders. August I get the car back and here's where I'm having the issues. I have the car no more than 6 hours and the AWD light comes on. I basically would be off when you start the car, then turn on when you give the car a little gas, then when you turn it off it goes away and does it all over again. Take it back to auto shop that repaired it, they get it diagnosed at a Hyundai dealership and they say the AWD ECU needed to be replaced (something about it not being able to calibrate.
Insurance deems this not part of the accident so now I'm on my own. AWD ECU is all the way at front of the car, and no damage to it etc, must be some kinda unlucky coincidence. I take it to the local Genesis/Hyundai dealership and they diagnose and come up with the same recommendation: Replace the AWD ecu. So they do this...and now it still can't calibrate. over the last month or so they have been saying Hyundai Canada is helping with the problem and they have tried replacing various components to try and fix to no avail. Now I'm up all night thinking that my car will never be fixed or is unfixable and all I was doing was minding my business stopped at a red light.
Soooo...i guess i'm rambling now but hoping for some support or help:
Maybe someone has had this issue with their AWD ECU and calibration and has a solution? or ideas?
Can I do anything about insurance not covering my car? Shouldn't they have to return a car with no warning lights back to me in same condition before accident or something? Does this sound like some unlucky timing for me? Is there some service I can go to about fighting this?
Has anyone had success talking to Hyundai Canada maybe i could get them to fully investigate the situation?
***My car does have an aftermarket compustar alarm that was professionally installed and I do have a set of ARK lowering springs on it. The car was working for several years with these aftermarket items no issues but maybe something with those? also my car has super low KM on it.
Anyway thanks in advance to listening to my story and me vent. Apologies for my lack of activity on the forums. Car was working perfectly, had kids, been busy with work and family but car forums are where I grew up.
