  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

I have not had any luck getting the key card to work. Not sure if the dealer has to activate it or if Genesis customer care can help.
Luckily my dealer set mine up but you should be able to program/set it up through the car infotainment screen. I'd imagine customer care or the dealer can also walk you through it or they can do it for you.

I have to carry key card as backup since digital key 2 doesn't support my phone. It's crazy that it only works for apple and Samsung phones.

So most android users have no digital key with their gv60 currently.
Which phone do you have?

Samsung carries the largest Android market share, certainly in the US.

Has anyone found a reliable carplay usb wireless adapter for iphone that works on the GV60?

I have this one and it works great with iPhones

This one will do iPhone and Android but I don’t know how well it works.

Not really sure about the GV60, but any Android phone with bluethooth and NFC should support the digital key. I do not think there is anything different with the digital key 2, but I can be wrong. iPhones are not supported and I believe it is due to no NFC.

The latest iPhones are supported as I use mine every day. They use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and Apple Key which puts the key in the apple wallet. You don’t have to take the phone out of your pocket at all to unlock the car or start the car. It works really really well. Also iPhones do have NFC that is what Apple Pay uses.

I stand corrected. In that case I am not sure what the other guy was talking about that only Samsung phones are supported. Is that true for the digital key 2?

Yes for digital key 2 only the latest iPhones and specific Samsung phones are supported. As they must support BLE. When you start the setup process the first step is it checks the phone to make sure it is supported. I have an iPhone 13 Pro Max which is supported.

This happens to me all the time, kind of disappointing because face unlock works perfectly. But I can't trust the fingerprint reader.

Otherwise I'd be going keyless all the time.
Had the exact same experience with the fingerprint system being very unreliable, I have tried resetting it and even to a point where I kept moisturizing my hand so that I don't have cracked/dry skin on my finger (I do notice it makes a difference during reading). Yet, my success rate is less than 50% to start the car. The face recognition works flawlessly but this fingerprint system is unusable.

I had my car in for service earlier this week to have a growing list of various minor issues addressed, as I was ~1000km away from the 10K km service the car was asking for, they addressed that as well.
I'll save the stories about the overall poor service for another time, but thought I'd share what is becoming a more significant worry for me.

Two of the items on my list I asked them to check out were inconsistent body panel gaps at the rear of the vehicle and a hatch that seemed particularly loud when it latched. They said that the noise was because the hatch was not properly lining up with the latch when it was closing, and during a discussion on another item, they pointed out some uneven gaps with the interior trim in the trunk area.

So, it appears that the exterior panels at the rear are misaligned, the interior panels at the rear are misaligned, and the hatch is misaligned with the frame when it closes. To me, this seems like the back end of the car is crooked - which is a much bigger deal than some cosmetic and noise issues.

I've asked the dealership how they suggest we properly assess the issue and resolve. Let's see what they come back with.

Yes, that is the first thing I noticed on my GV as well, a definite misalignment on my hatch and an abnormal clunk noise as it tries to latch. Its funny because my experience manager didn't seem to think the noise was abnormal when I pointed it out to him, but both my Ionic 5 and their GV60 demo unit are silent. My initial thought was it in an accident?

This should have never passed the factory QC checks. I would not find this acceptable in a $20,000 Hyundai Accent.

In the following picture you can see how the bottom of the hatch is within 1-2mm of touching the body, on the bottom picture its hard to see but the gap is probably 6-7mm. I can almost fit my finger tip into it. Most manufacturer's consider 5mm max tolerance for panel gap/alignment. If it had a body integrity inspection in my province it would fail. I asked them to correct it before delivery. Its a little beyond the skills of the PDI technician and probably needs to visit a body shop to loosen the 4 bolts at the top and slightly tweak the very heavy hatch door. In the end I have fixed things like this before but I would have to wonder why I am paying premium to do so. Honestly if its not fixed appropriately prior to delivery I will reject the car and this is before I have even had a chance to test drive the car and verify there are no suspension abnormalities, noises. Alas, they won't let me drive it before its PDI. My ionic 5 had a misaligned suspension from the get go and if you don't ID that right away dealers like claim you hit a pothole and the fix is on your dime even though it really should still fall under the adjustment period of the warranty. I learned that lesson on my Kona EV.

We got our car about 2 weeks ago and still waiting for a trip to the dealer (appointment made) to get on the alignment rack, as there's definitely a slight misalignment even from the get-go.

Am wondering if others have experienced the following:
1. Squeaking / creaking sound at times near the seat belt buckle release (driver-side) - sounds like leather rubbing, or something inside the seat itself
2. Leather defect in the rear seat (it looks like an indentation that you might see when the seats are folded down - but this mark hasn't gone away yet)

A bit of an update... It's been more than 24 hours since I've heard from the dealership, despite leaving both email and voicemail messages requesting that they call me. Tomorrow I'll be contacting my salesperson to see if he can make any progress - looking at the dealership's website I can't figure out who's in charge. They list Experience Managers, a Service Manager, and Ownership Manager, but no sales manager or anyone that appears to be in charge of overall operations.

I stopped at a local bodyshop on the way home to get their thoughts on the issues and felt much better after doing so. The person I spoke to said that it is highly unlikely that there are any serious structural issues. He suspected that what I'm seeing is just the result of shoddy assembly, and could likely be fixed simply by someone taking the time to properly install and adjust the various components that are misaligned. It seems all I need now is for the dealership to return my messages and agree to correct Genesis's shoddy work.

Does the Carlin adapter come with the correct usb-c cord that will work in the GV60 or do we need to buy one? If the adapter is left plugged into the usb-c outlet is the power always “on” and drawing a current even when the car is off? Asking as I don’t want a power drain of the cars 12 volt battery.

It comes with both USB-A and USB-C cords. The unit stays on for a few minutes after the car is turned off. It is NOT always on and will not drain the 12v battery. I leave mine plugged in and have had no issues. The unit connects quickly and I have been very please on how it works and I’m coming from a car that had wireless Apple CarPlay.

Does anyone's HUD change colours? Mine will have a blue or yellow tint sometimes. There seems to be some correlation with time of day or light levels, so I'm not sure if this is a bug or feature.

Not sure if its the same thing but the HUD in my Ionic 5 while change colour under certain circumstances such as amber/red when I am approaching a speed camera zone.

The speed displayed on the HUD changes to yellow/red as I approach speed cameras. What I'm referring to here is all the normally white text & icons (steering wheel, speed, spped limit sign, lane indicators, etc.) all turn blue.
