  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Drove my friends new 2011 Mustang GT Premium with Brembo Pkg. WOW!

He bought it with the 6 Speed Manual. It comes with a 5.0 Liter DOHC 32V Engine. Car runs on 87 octane fuel. The Brembo Pkg adds 19 Inch wheels, with Pirelli PZero Summer Tires, "Brembo" etched on the calipers, a beautiful "bar" that goes across the engine compartment, connected from shock tower to shock tower, and who knows what else the Brembo Pkg has.

First things first. I thought it was going to have a "rough" (stiff) ride. Well, the ride although stiffer than a regular Mustang, WAS NO STIFFER THAN MY GENESIS and perhaps even smoother. (this surprised me as I thought it would be rough).

The clutch was feather light. Left leg will not get tired in this car. The shifter falls right at my hand, and the transmission shifts smooth, as if it were shifting through butter. (Just as good as the Renault Laguna's I lease when in Europe.)

Did not have a Navi Screen, however my friend showed me the Ford Sync system. Told it where we wanted to go. Don't understand all the following, however it then connected to his cell phone, then after answering some questions, it disconnected from the cell phone, and the information was in the Sync, and it gave us voice only directions to where we told it. Although I love a screen map, I was still impressed with the Sync system. (The problems with all these new cars is that you need a degree in computer science to understand how all the systems function).

If I were 40 years younger, and 40 pounds lighter, this would be my car. (Yes, 40 years ago, when I was 40 pounds lighter, my wife and I had both a 70 'Cuda 340 and a 70 Mustang Mach-1)

I WAS IMPRESSED!

Sounds like Ford finally got smart and offered a brake upgrade. Dodge Challenger and Chevy camaro both have that option and 6 sp MT.

Sounds like a much improved product.

My buddy just had to drive it hard. I was going down the road a couple days ago, and I saw that the locals had pulled him over and was giving him a ticket. I recognized the car with those special wheels on the Brembo Pkg.

Have not told him yet that I saw him.

The local cops in Mt. Dora don't give warnings. You get stopped, you get a ticket.
I now tend to drive slower, and easier, and slam on my brakes often to make sure I don't run a light, however everyone, including myself, makes mistakes every time you drive. Now, I'm even stopping behind the white line at intersections, which I never did before, because the Orlando Police are giving tickets for that, and it won't be long before the Mt. Dora police see that they can make money doing that.

Although nice, i heard its nothing but a boat.

A very close friend of mine had been saving up for months to purchase the new 5.0. During that time he drove a 350Z.

Well the day finally came that one was available and so he drove it for an hour. The words out of his mouth the next day was "Ford is full of S...!" I asked why and he said that they branded the car as a sports car...but its no where close. He said it is definitely quick from light to light...but everything in between is far off the mark. He said its like driving a speed boat with a SAIL stuck 30 foot high.

He then said, go look in the parking lot where I usually park and tell me what you think. So i peeked my head out the door and there was a beautiful white 370Z. He said, "Now THATS a sport car!"

Now, that was his opinion and I respect it...givin I have ridden with him on more than a dozen times in his 350Z. He's CRAZY and knows what he's talking about.

Of course, I would be tickled to death to have the 5.0 in my garage! HA!

Interesting. I've heard good reviews of the newer 'Stangs.
General opinion is, even with the live axle, Ford managed to make it handle pretty good on road courses.
Of course it'll feel a lot different than the more nimble Japanese coupes.

My old Vette felt heavy, but it handled pretty damn good in the corners.
A lil over 3200lbs is considered pretty light, but somehow the car feels heavy. I've driven other heavier sports coupes including German products that feel lighter and tighter than my Vette.
It's the steering feel/feedback that matters when you define ride refinement.
American sports cars in general lack in that department.
Nonetheless, the exhaust sound of an American V8 is intoxicating.

With the new Mustang GT 5.0, I have less excuse to step up to the GT500. :)
I'd love to go test drive one in the near future.

My mistake. It was not my buddy. I saw my buddies car again a few days ago, and it did not have the wheels of the car I saw getting a ticket.

Yes, Ford "can" make a RWD car with a Live Rear Axle handle. I had a Mercury Marauder with RWD, Live Rear Axle, and it was the first RWD (LRA)car I've had that did not have the RWD Axle Hop when going around corners with bumps. That was great. It can be done.

The new Mustang 5.0 is supposed to handle like a BMW M3 - though I'm not sure how an M3 handles compared to a Nissan 370Z... You can see some pretty cool videos of the new 5.0 at http://www.stangworld.com

All I know is, the 5.0 is fast.. Wait until people start modifying them...
