  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

OK, I'm pissed...
I started getting a notice on my GPS screen when I activated it that if it wasn't upgraded soon, it would cease to function...
I'd been through the drill before & started the byzantine upgrade process, & after about 20 tries (no exaggeration), I called concierge, who's explanation was the upgrade wasn't available until mid-November, & when i asked for a specific date, was advised they didn't have one...My career was in technology & I've never known of a planned upgrade that didn't have a specific date, but whatever...I was advised to go to my dealer, made an appointment, & took the car in...They fiddled with it for a bit over an hour & said the upgrade software was not yet available...TWO DAYS, as in 48 flippin' hours later, & I'm leaving town & the damn GPS was dead...I recall concierge & this time was told that the upgrade has been available for "about two weeks & some people are downloading it," which sounds like bs to me (really helpful agent whose tone implied I just didn't know what the f I was doing, & further the dealership didn't know what it was doing either)...
This was late Friday afternoon, & I have a vm message with the GM of my dealership advising I want someone to figure out what needs to be done if ANYONE with Genesis has a flippin' clue as to how I should proceed, but I spent the entire damn weekend having to work with Google maps to figure out where I needed to go...
I switched to Genesis from BMW, & while they weren't perfect - nobody is - I never ran into a situation where they were totally flippin' clueless as to what was going on...
I'm starting to be concerned that the Genesis product is not at the top of Hyundai's priorities...
Am I the only owner that's dealing with crap like this?...I know the car was only $80k, but I expect high-end support from what is purported to be a "luxury" vehicle...Why the hell can't we be sent a memory stick with the upgrade already loaded on it?...
Really disappointed...Seriously disappointed...

There is an October update available for download, but it messed up the HUD for those of us with a 2023 model GVB80. What year model do you own?

As for your GPS, I have never seen this unless you are way behind on updates. What software version do you currently have? The November update will be coming out to fix the issues the October update messed up. The October update should not have been released. You can get a USB drive sent to you, but currently they are not sending out any because of the messed-up October update. They will resume once the November update comes out.

Thanks for your reply...I have the Prem Gen6 Nav with a date of 5/31/21...Software version is JX1.USA.P6.001.002.210414...i'm taking another run at it (just a glutton for punishment}, & at some point in the process was told I have the most up-to-date software available...That can't be right...

Like I said, there is an October 2022 update, but it has been problematic. Also, I do not think it had any GPS update with it.

I believe you are 2-3 updates behind. There is a fall 2021 (Oct/Nov21) and a spring 2022 (Apr/May22). I updated to the current one (Oct/Nov22). I loaded the newest one and have had no problems with it. But you can see many owners complain about the current download.

I understand Genesis took down the current update and we have to wait for newer version. I have an iPhone 13 Pro with Google maps, Apple Maps, Waze, TomTom, and even Here maps which Genesis uses a version. All these map programs work perfectly with Apple CarPlay.. I don't know if you are using an Apple phone, but all this software works for me..
With the newest version of the Genesis updates (Oct/Nov/22) the new Genesis nav software is an improvement.. With the new version when using "MAPS" in 3D mode, it uses the full screen. Older versions in 3D, the top 25% of the screen was blue sky, no maps..
But we did loose the scalable map program. The older version you could set the map scale according to speed.. There was about 5-6 speed settings and you could set the scale to those setting. This is now gone and it sets the scale automatically, and you have 3 settings. 1/ close up, 2/ normal, 3/ distant.. (I forget the exact terms they use).. not as good as the old scaling system.. You can also set the scale manually and go in/out scales by using the turn wheel by the shifter.. or with touch screen. With the new MAPS program you can scale it to 50/100/200/400/800/1.6 etc.
Put in 400 setting I personally loose all the street names on the map. 200 great, 800 good, but 400 no street names.. I hope they correct with newer version.

But I am still learning all the changes Genesis made with this new version. I wish they would give a detailed list of the changes.. Owners have to figure it out for ourselves..

2021...I'm trying to sort through what's going on...in other news the timing on my 88 560SEC has been corrected!!!

I have updated my Nav Systems with each Version released (about every 6 months) on both my previous G80 and now current GV80, sometimes using the Navigation Updater download and sometimes using the MapSoft mailed media. Either method has updated without any issues every time. While each release has installed properly I can say that some of the changes weren't improvements in my opinion, as with some of the changes I've noticed with the latest Version 16.5.

1. Seems like if there is no speed limit in the data base for a particular road it will just display a speed limit of 25MPH. In rural South Jersey there are many roads with posted limits of 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50MPH. I guess this will also confirm the GV80 doesn't read Speed Limit signs!
2. Sirius Radio channels used to have a REC icon on Favorite channels that would allow skipping backward >30 minutes of previous music even if you weren't tuned to that station. Now you can only go backwards to the point you tuned to that channel.

I have the same, a 3.5 Prestige and the latest (Oct) update was fine, I have not run into any issues. Have you been able to load the new update? I have been doing the update when the car is off, and each time I get a text message after about 45 minutes that the update is successful

My 2023 GV80 still reads the speed signs. If the map data does not have speed data, the speed sign on my dash shows -- until I pass a speed limit sign. It then shows that speed limit on my dash but only for a short time.

I lost the speed limit on my HUD. There are a couple of other items that are not quite right. Hoping the next update (supposedly mid November) will correct this.

For G-713032, since you have a 2021, it seems that people with the 2021 did not have a problem with the October update, so if you want to see if it updates your GPS, download it and install it manually.

FWIW, since I travel with Waze on anyhow, I use Waze for directions and destinations. It uses Google Maps for it's base and works perfectly.
When August 2024 comes, I likely will not renew my 3 year Genesis Connect--I do not use their maps or GPS destinations.

I lost the speed limit on my HUD.

Check the Traffic Info icon on this screen (in the Setup section). It's the one that toggles the Speed Limit on my HUD.

It is selected. This stopped working after the October update. Well documented fore those of us with the 2023 GV80.

Robw28731, I have not had issues loading new updates. Just FYI when you start the update it can take up to 15 minutes before you see a status bar. It seems as if the update is doing nothing. Can you explain your update process?
