  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Connected Services going away in December 2022

Please share here.
Compustar alarm and remote starter with Drone Mobile. Specific model depends on the type of remote you want and if it's 1 way or 2way.
I can remote start from the oem Genesis fob or the drone mobile app.
I have breadcrumbs and location tracking.
Geofencing and speed alerts I have as well buy haven't used yet.
You cannot set your temp remotely unless you pay for an additional module.
I just set my temp to Auto in the car and it returns to that last temp setting when starting.

I just bought a 2018 G80 Sport and I did not find this anywhere in my research. Great reviews and great reliability. I so pissed that I don’t even want it anymore.

I still have Warrenty left and do intend to push this issue, I bought the car because of these functions. I will take to court if I have to. For them to tell me they are not making any repairs since the car will still start and drive. Folks this is just plan wrong.

Yes I agree that you should push the issue.
Did they perchance tell you that in writing?
Can you prove that it is totally broken or it just doen work most times. It sounds as though it works for others although granted not well.

How do you know if its corporate who said it or the dealer who wants to brush you off and just said its corporate.
Sure, go to court. Thats what we do in California

California’s Lemon Law Presumption contains these
guidelines for determining when a “reasonable”
number of repair attempts have been made:
• The manufacturer or dealer hasn’t fixed the
same problem after four or more attempts.
• Your vehicle’s problems could cause death
or serious bodily injury if it is driven, and the
manufacturer or dealer has made at least
two unsuccessful repair attempts.
• The vehicle has been in the shop for more
than 30 days (not necessarily in a row)
for repair of any problems covered by its
warranty.

I agree. Has potential for a law suit. Terrible service for an up and coming “luxury” car brand. I love my 2018 g80 sport, best car I’ve ever owned. That said, I will not purchase another Genesis if they do not offer a real solution to this.
I also Agree. My wife's boss, a Doctor purchased a 2017 Azera. He was notified when he purchased it, that the 3G service would stop working when 3G was discontinued. This was at least 5 years ago. There is no excuse for not notifying purchasers of 2018 and 2019 Genesis products. Another point... the 9.2" screen units were on an older platform than the 8" units. I had a the 2015 unit noted in my profile. (Since turned in from a lease) That unit had 4G connectivity as far as I know.

I really liked the car, and the only reason that I did not buy one outright in 2018, is that none were available during the Genesis Secretary of State/Incorporation debacle. I ended up in a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Overland 4WD. Got an incredible deal on it. The reason I'm back in the forum is that my son is looking to purchase a 2021 G80 Prestige, and wanted to see if there was any feedback on the 2.5T engine.

Actually, I am a little confused by this since we have a 2019 G70, that we bought new and came with 3 years of connected services. It expires in a week and I have a message to renew my connected services at $300/year for all three packages. $99 for the connected care, which you have to have if you want the others, $99 for Remote, and $99 for guidance. If these are going away, why would they by available to renew? The 3 year subscription (15% off each) is $252/year each so $757 total.

Update: Just put our VIN in the Genesis connected service update and it is not affected by the outage so it is only certain 2017 - 2019 models, 3G Wireless Service Update

Shame on Genesis for pulling this crap, but its done now, nothing the company can do to upgrade the modems. HOWEVER, what they should do is apologize and atone to their customers by offering the affected parties a coupon through Compustar to purchase their product model that mostly restores what was lost through Connected Services. This would go a long way to keep your customer base and would be cheaper than fighting and loosing a lawsuit.

This interesting though. Our 2018 Audi Q7 had the same issue and there was a recall. They fixed in the vehicle.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Earlier I posted a link to a recent article about Ford named in a class action lawsuit regarding outdated modems and the 3g sunset. This post is still labeled as hidden and pending moderator approval. In the meantime, Google the phrase 'Ford modem lawsuit' or something similar and you will begin seeing recent articles about his. VW also appears to be involved in a class action for the same/similar issue.

Tell me more about Compustar product. Where can I find it and what is the cost?

Look at earlier posts in this thread for more details.
You can find compustar products at most any reputable auto alarm installer.
Mine was about $800 as I opted for an upgraded perimeter alarm to be installed too. Otherwise likely around $600 on average.

Their website lists dealers. Cost installed depends on n model but figure $350 to $600 depending on choice of model and features. I was in the middle.

Just got off the phone with Genesis and they told me as long as you continue your subscription and call in at the renewal time, they will give you a 40% discount on the connected services but it needs to be both the connected care and remote. He said next year, just call in again and they will apply it again. That was worth the call.

Anyone get the email this morning saying Genesis Connected Services is being discontinued this December due to Verizon dropping 3g network coverage? Guess I'll start exploring remote start options. I will miss the monthly vehicle reports though.
So when I was reading through it I didn't understand if it was giving to affect the gps

Since the connected services were a selling point I don't believe they have the legal right to discontinue it? I just purchased my lease in November and was solicited to continue with the service for a monthly fee. Now I find out by email yesterday that it's being discontinued. There should be a class action suit against this. They have the technology to upgrade but rather rip us off instead of spending money. Now I regret buying my lease.

It sounds like you have a new model that should not be affected. Did you go to their website about the connected services and put your VIN in to see if it is affected? 3G Wireless Service Update

It does not. Your GPS will continue to function just the same, and the twice yearly maps updates will continue (for as long as they continue).
The POI button on the mirror will stop working.

The terms of service do clearly state that it may be discontinued at any time.
