  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Reported Issues with the Genesis GV60

It happens every time i reverse.
I had it serviced and they claim to have lubricated everything, but it is still very audible.
My noise isn't every time, but probably ~50%. I'm not sure what could be done as typically pad-on-rotor noise works itself out as the brakes bed together. With how little they are used in the GV60, they may just not have that opportunity. I'm 12,000km in and you can still see the manufacturing marks on the surface of my rotors.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I had my car in earlier this week. Three handles being replaced.

Where are you located? My squeaking very much coincided with winter weather. I suspect it's due to road grime getting into some tight spaces. Could the same be the case with you?
I am in Winnipeg and it started the first time it got really cold in early November. I was gone for 3 weeks and came home to plus temps, but it still squeaked.

Okay. So, my road grime hypothesis isn't consistent with your case...:gee:

One of my rear backup lights has popped out :(

Seems stuck in there so hopefully doesn't fall off until my service appointment. Sucks that I have to bring it in since they dealership doesn't do the "Service Valet" I hear SoCal and East Coast dealers do.

Are you referring to an authorized Genesis dealer in the U.S.? See below:

I believe there are some limitations such as you have to be within an hour of the dealer, but unless there is more to the story you are not telling us, I would be on the phone with Genesis Concierge asking what the story is. This is supposed to be one of the many upgrades we are paying the extra $ for versus a Hyundai.

Gave a call to Genesis - they clarified that that their valet driver was out sick and also they have no loaners.

Wanted to schedule with the dealership closest to me but their online service calendar showed no available dates with the given months for some reason.

Facial recognition issue.

On first attempt I get green circle but no unlock. Have to get another successful green circle for it to unlock. Anyone else having this issue?

Just an update for everyone on my GV60 which will not take a fast charge - charges fine Level 1 & 2 but no go on faster Level 3 chargers. My Mauna Red GV60 has been in shop since July 22, coming up to 9 weeks this Friday. After waiting several weeks for a part from Korea, the fix was a no go so we are now back to square one. Finally got a Genesis loaner - nice GV80 yesterday but took much complaining to Genesis Canada to get same. Oh and they have told me to keep my gas receipts as they will apparantly repay me!
Any updates on a fix for your GV60? Hoping no news is good news.

It’s not like the touch lock/unlock with the “Twice to unlock” scenario in the settings is it.

Which dealer is this? Certainly sounds like a dealer to be avoided.

Anytime I open the app it activates calendar synchronization, after which I'm getting countless notifications of events which happened some time ago or upcoming say, within a week, but it tells me leave @.... today! I disable it in personal settings, but it only works till the next use of the app. Oh and the app is rather bad not only compared to tesla, but even to wife's BMW. The other thing I can't understand, why the car starts in comfort mode? I do not expect the sport mode, but what is the point of having personal drive mode if it has to be activated every time one starts the car?

I agree, the app needs work. To be fair, the BMW app was pretty crappy for a while too.

To your latter point, there is a requirement that when vehicles are started, they have to be in the mode tested and qualified for their factory ratings. This same question comes up often for people who want their ICE performance vehicles to auto-start in performance mode. So far, I haven't seen a manufacturer implement it otherwise.

Tesla kinda of side-stepped it by placing acceleration, braking, etc as individual settings instead of "driving" modes; those settings stay the same.

I don't know if it's accurate, the "performance mode" is also "tested and qualified", otherwise why it's there?
I was not referring to the performance mode, my RS also always starts in "auto", but rather individual, which in my case has "sport" steering and firmer suspension, nothing else differs

Tested and qualified means the mode it was in when the eMPG/MPG scores were attained.

There is a case in California about this regulation now. A person has an Elantra N, where in Sports Mode, the vehicle exhaust is louder than California's threshold (allegedly). The vehicle hasn't been modified, and the State wouldn't pass his new car after receiving a ticket.

The car was tested in Sports Mode which shouldn't have been the case since cars don't have to qualify in mode selections (based on the current regulations).

what @acadapter said is how I understand it too. Also for ICE it’s about emissions. They have to default to the mode they are tested in for mpg and emissions purposes….

I don't drive much at night, but when I do, in my neighborhood we have no street lights and I catch myself stretching the neck to see where the curbs are as I turn. I want to confirm that gv60 doesn't have rotating headlights, nor it has cornering lights?

[sorry for the bold; I can't seem to turn it off] The answer is no. The below is from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS):

Used to live right by you in Long Hill Township where there are also few street lights, and the cornering lights on my Porsche Macan were excellent such as when turning into a dark driveway etc. Wonder why we don't see that feature available on more cars. Overall the GV60 headlights are pretty decent, but the cornering lights are one of those features you don't appreciate until you've experienced it.

Also had a BMW where I was able to turn on (via coding) the Matrix type headlights you now see on more and more European cars. Given the GV60 is sold in Europe I wonder if the headlights are actually Matrix capable but the feature is turned off in North America. Or perhaps we have different headlight units here?

Funny how you see little if any discussion about hacking into features like that on Hyundai/Kia/Genesis enthusiast forums like this as you do with BMW and Porsche.

We also drive Audi rs5 and x3, never thought about it before we got gv60... This is really strange for a $70k car, our nissan years back had cornering lights.

I live in Northern California, no snow or very cold weather. The GV60 is 6 months old. I hardly drive. I only have about 1100 miles the car. I just started to notice the noise on the rear rotors when backing up. For the first 5 months I had been using regen 3 and i pedal for a little while. Using regen 3 or i pedal I did not had to step on the brakes very much. This last month I started to us "auto" regen and have been using the brakes a lot more. Don't know if this really means anything as a reason as to the noise in the rear brakes. I do notice that once I drive the car for a little while and step on the brakes a few times the noise will go away. I suspect I will again hear the noise the next time I use the car and back it up.
