  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

JB4

Well... we're waiting for a after action report :)
First report no goodđŸ˜©đŸ˜‚ Followed instructions, but in their pics, the “white dots” on the beta version (don’t have clips yet”, aren’t clear. Hooked them up and through all kinds of engine codes. Took it all off for now, and over night, engine light cleared. Scared me into almost returning it, but going to reach out to the company for extra guidance

You'll probably have to flip them like I did. When I lined up the dots I got the same codes like you but after I flipped them I was good. I'll try and take a picture in the morning

How was your experience so far with JB4? any boost cuts? feel the difference? I had one for 3 years on my G70 and it made so much quicker.

I like it and haven't had any issues other than when I was trying to hook it up. Once I got it up and running it's been good.

This is my first time using the JB4, I didn't use it on my Stinger so I can't compare it to that but I can definitely feel the difference between stock and using the Maps.

They are working on updating the Maps to make them stronger. I didn't noticed any cuts on Maps 1 & 2 but I do notice when the boost is hitting.

On the last pic, it’s hard to see, is the white dot up or down?

the white dot is up and on the same side as the gray connector clip.
the white dot has a notch above it

So how has this been long term? Thinking about getting a GV and tuning it.

i dont want to leave you hanging, i dont have the gv70 anymore.
when i traded the car in i had between 20-25000 miles and i had the jb4 for a lot of it. it was good while i had it. you may want to go over to the n54 forum to see if there was anymore development on it tho. good luck

*i havent had it since spring/summer of 2022 so def check to see if there's been any updates

If you had to venture a guess, what kind l of real world 0-60 improvements did you see using just premium 91? I'm guessing you were predominantly using Map 1 as your daily map?

As of now, there is no way to do some hard pulls (WOT) to see 0-60 or 0-~100. When the car is in Map 2, it kind of "waves" while accelerating. It isn't smooth.
I already talk to Terry last week; sent him bunch of logs and he admitted there is something wrong. He didn't tell what's wrong, but they'll try to get the car to their shop and do some testing.

The best I got was 4.7 on 0-60. I was on map 1 and 93 has
Like dareckibmw said, map 2 had some issues when going full throttle but map 1 was a noticeable improvement over stock in my opinion
Sometimes I could go full throttle on map 2 without issues but it wasn't consistently reliable

I experience the same jerkiness even in map 1 (running 93 octane) when the car hasn’t warmed up completely. Even 1/2 throttle it will buck 3-4 times while accelerating. Once it warms up completely, I don’t experience the jerkiness. Never had this issue on my 3.3t Stinger w/JB4 map 2.

I went ahead and created a install vid of the JB4 in case anyone wants to see what is all involved. If I wasn’t recording, I could have had this installed 30-45 mins. It was rather easy.

There is more GV70 owners having the very same issue as I'm having. The car was warmed up and it still isn't smooth while WOT.
Have you tried like 0-90 with pedal to the metal? that's where the problem is.
I've had JB4 on my g80 sport 3.3tt for 3 years, ran Map2 on 93 and Map4 on e85+93 and never had a single problem. It was flawless.

Sorry if it didn’t come through, but I was agreeing with you that Burger Tuning needs to work on their tuning for both map1 & 2.
I’m only running map 1 since it doesn’t seem like they have everything ironed out yet.

I hope you follow the thread on N54 forum. There's another guy just started "poking" at them, lol post #69 and it doesn't look like Terry is answering him directly.

Yeah I’m on there too. I posted my logs for Terry to see. The first log (running firmware from Burger) they said I needed to add E85 to the map1 tune running 93. đŸ€ŠđŸ»â€â™‚ïž
I updated the firmware to stable version and retested and Terry said it looked good even though I have these cold engine hesitation issues as I stated earlier.

Yea, the issues with his Map2 and up is concerning.

Hopefully it is all sorted by the time I'm ready to pull the trigger on one. I would prefer his solution over a ECM swap.

So I did some testing today, and I put the JB4 on map 0 (so JB4 is off) and I still have the surging when it’s cold. Not sure what could cause this. I may swap plugs and see if it clears up. Idk, kind of at a loss. At least I know that it’s not the JB4 causing this issue.

When I do my pulls, the engine is always warm. No exceptions. And the "waving" is longer than what you have. I'll try to record it tomorrow, if not snowing.
