  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai has entered the next level up with the Genesis and seems to be doing rather well. I sure like mine!

I find more controversy here about the stiffness of the Genesis ride than any other feature. The Buick Regal offers Interactive Drive Control allowing the driver to choose among three different operating modes that change the suspension and stability settings, throttle response, shift pattern and steering sensitivity. The modes are:

Standard – balanced and optimized for all driving situations
Tour – optimized for comfort and relaxed driving on long journeys
Sport – optimized for road holding; enthusiast driving.

Not trying to hype Buick; just pointing out that this is a feature that would be nice on future Gennys.

An adjustable air suspension option has been available on the Genesis for the Korean Domestic Market (and all other markets outside of North America) since day one.

The adjustable air suspension will be standard on the Equus.

I agree. If the Equus really does have a base MSRP in the high 50's, it seems that there should be room for a higher trim package for the Genesis that includes, things like an adjustable suspension and more adjustable and cooled passenger seats.

As I understand it, Air Suspension replaces the Springs allowing adjustable ride height, self levelling and load compensation. They do not provide adjustable damping which is the feature that most affects ride. The Buick system (along with may others) uses adjustable shocks that are filled with a special fluid containing metallic particles The ouside of the fluid chambers have electro magnet coils around them. By changing the magnetic field you change the effective viscosity of the damping fluid and therefore the ride characteristics. I think these dampers could make a significant difference to the Genesis ride without compromising the handling. Around town you could select a normal or comfort setting and when to want to take to the twisties, select sport mode.

My 02 Continental (as well at the two 98 Continentals I had) has the Driver Information System that was an option. I can set the air suspension to Firm, Normal and Plush. an also set the steering the same way. For my wife, we have the air suspension set to plush, but for me, I have it set to firm. Even though it is firm, it is still softer than the Genesis suspension.

We have been lucky that our three Continentals (with air suspension) have never had air leaks in the suspensions. I've seen others with air leaks and it is not a pleasent sight.
If I ever get a suspension leak in our 02, it would probably cost more to get fixed than the car is worth.

I'd bet that the next gen Genesis will have an adjustable suspension - the car has attracted a very wide set of people with different wants and it needs it.
