  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At least I thought I did...
I was changing the oil yesterday and discovered that underneath the passenger seat, there is a small trap door. Underneath you will find that the VIN is stamped along the frame. Perhaps helpful if you are buying a used one from an individual, or just want to make sure that what is on the registration matches, the rest of the car...

I found that VIN as well!!!

Thanks for the undercarriage pictures too.

I don't know a lot but I did know about this. Someone must have kicked the cover loose and I noticed it on the floor of the car. Couldn't imagine what it was for until I moved the seat back and saw the opening.

Nice pix. Glad to see you use Jack Stands.

Why is the underside of your car so clean?????

Oh, wait; Now I know. "It never rains in Southern California"!!!!

Actually this past winter it rained like a mofo. However, it never snows, and this car is garaged at night. But it does go a good 6 months without raining, here in the desert. Also the undercarriage, like most newer cars is totally covered in plastic.

VIN numbers are placed in several locations of all cars to prevent stolen cars from having easy to replace plates changed.

Some of the locations are withheld from the public & owners for obvious reasons. Dealers and law enforcement can check all numbers to see if there is a mtach.

Ah you California drivers, lack of rain, no snow, salt, sand- very pristine under carriage TJ!

Closer look- can't have many miles when these pics were taken- tread on those Dunlops look 90% or more.

along the frame....

TJ Gato. Your underneath photos are EXACTLY what I wish you would compare to the BMW when you do your rough evaluation. Frame, suspension parts, etc... is where I am curious how the Genesis stacks up. I don't care about "features" or add-ons for a comparison.

If you could, that would be really cool.

That is where the biggest gap between the BMW and Genesis lays. The two cars ride and handle so remarkably differently, it's impossible to compare the two.

TJ, I was wondering if you could get underneath photos of the BMW to compare of these you posted on the Genesis. Suspension parts, etc... If you could.

Thanks TJ.. Those are all Genesis, correct? What I was getting at was if the Bimmer parts look more "stout" or whatever. See the way the frame and chassis is built/put together.., plus the suspension parts, etc... That is what I pay attention to.

Sorry to be buggin' you about it El Gato ! I will wait on the bmw photos in your comparison.
