  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Transmission fix attempt - this didn't go as planned. Help, please...

That's crazy. All that "sealed" means is that there is no dipstick (except for the one you were talking to).
Yes, it can and should be changed. Find a dealer or a good independent shop that knows more about it. Don't use the dealership that you talked to, and avoid the chain transmission shops.
Most people's driving qualifies as severe usage. See the owner's manual page below that clearly says to change fluid every 100, 000 km (60K miles).

Thank you. On the test drive, it drives like a dream. Had plenty of get up and go. Was very quiet. It has been well taken care of. But, years of owning older vehicles, tells me to change that fluid, but I also believe "if it aint broke, don't fix it"....Have never owned a Hyundai before, so am at a loss.

Suffering from this problem frequently, every time it is checked with the computer it shows a faulty solenoid, I replace it and it becomes fine, maybe 15 thousand km, then the same problem occurs with another solenoid . The last time, the expert was so bad that he destroyed part of the electronic chip. This is how it looked. I now have to get the whole set

When my transmission was shifting hard I replaced the pan with the filter, changed the fluid and all the solenoids at once. Luckily haven’t had that problem since

translation of above from Arabic - I would replace the entire assembly, hopefully it didn't damage some parts of the transmission.

Giving an update, this originally happened at 118k miles. I'm currently at about 135k and it's still shifting fine. Fingers crossed it stays this way.

I received my car back after just over 2 weeks in the shop (we had a couple of snow storms that delayed parts).
The harness was causing the communication issue so was replaced, and they tested the valve assembly which was causing the shift delay, so that was also replaced. $600 was the final bill.

Coincidentally, my rear view camera which hasn't worked for the last year is now working again. Strange. But it's good to have my car driving again after 2 months.
Okay so you did replace the entire valve body and not just the two solenoids 35r & 4od. Question where did you find the valve body ? Was it remanufactured or rebuilt ?

Just in case it’s not noticed on the other post - replaced the entire solenoid assembly from a (tested) donor transmission. The trans shop said there was a manufacturing flaw so taking the chance with a new or used unit. He recommended a used unit. I’m now at about 145k miles and all is still good.

Any idea on what the part number is and if this can be a DIY or should I take it to a shop? I dont have a "Local" dealer 40 mins away is the closest and they are expensive....

My 2-3 gear is sticking and shifting slow going up (RPMs jump up) and shifting hard down with a noticable thunk down.....I did hae the fluid replaced about a year ago and maybe 15k miles......
