  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have you seen any/many Genesis on the streets?

I live in Brick, NJ... Sadly 10 miles from where the film the Jersey Shore:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:.

After looking at the "Who lives in NJ?" thread I know there are people near me that own Genny's but I have only seen two. The first was in Point Pleasant and was a Rebadged V8 outside an antique shop. It was the first time I had ever seen the car in person and is the reason why I bought mine. The other was a Cabernet Red on Rt 37 in Toms River last Saturday.

Sadly I haven't noticed many looks at the car but all of my friends who see it say it looks amazing. And I am sure when I get the car rebadged and tinted (in a week) i will get more then a couple looks.

Seeing the Genesis in the "flesh" is very different from seeing it in most pictures. I think I've only ever seen two or three pictures that really did this beautiful car justice. I wonder how many more would be sold if it's beauty was more easily conveyed in pictures? :)

Point Pleasant, boy, does that bring back memories from Air Force days (four years at McGuire AFB) of going to the Lobster Shanty!

Yea man! Great place to eat and even better in the winter since there is less of a crowd. The area is so much more congested then it used to be.

Really that bad?

Just returned from a trip to Panama City Beach Fl where we spent 4th of July weekend. Round trip from Jacksonville plus the driving I did while there was approximately 750-800 miles. Sad to say we did not see not one Genesis!. We were looking hard let me tell you there were just none on the highway or in Panama City. I have to wonder why in the hell Hyundai does not advertise the Genesis like they do say the Sonata. I can watch the television here and see at least 2 commercials a day promoting the sales for the Sonata yet not one for the Genesis. Can someone contact their sales staff and give them some instructions on how to sell vehicles?:D To sale anything you have to advertise somehow, somewhere, someway. My opinion and everyone else that has rode in it or saw my car think it is freaking awesome. They have no idea Hyundai even makes such a fine automobile and are shocked to see it is really a Hyundai. I'm not sure what the statistics are for new vehicle to become popular on the market but lets hope in 2011 the 3rd year for the Genesis it becomes more that just a "Dark Horse" By the way for those wondering there was NO oil for at least 100 miles or so from us in the Gulf.

Just returned from a 900-mile round trip from MD to Lenoir, NC (worst trip ever - lost over 2 hours each way in traffic jams: two with no apparent cause, one due to a massive accident, and one due to construction).

Anyway, I spotted a black Genesis like mine (but with no customization at all) westbound on I-66 in VA. The driver gave no response at all to a friendly wave. Spotted another black one in the parking lot of the unfortunately named Fatz restaurant in Lenoir - wing badge on trunk, retained Genesis lettering. I didn't see the hood or wheels so I don't know about those.

Being cooped up in a stationary car for 5+ hours is never enjoyable, but, all said, there are worse places to sit than a Genesis.

One wierdness with the touchscreen nav: on several occasions the response to zooming the view in or out was to display a screen at the current resolution but centered on some random location nowhere near the current route. I had to reset the destination each time to get back to my route. Also, the XM nav warnings were totally useless. In each of the 4 jams we were in the "Congestion" warning appeared either after we were completely out of the jam, or long after we had become trapped. As far as I'm concerned this is a totally worthless feature. In any case, I'm now in month 6 of my free 90 day XM trial and have no intention of subscribing if they ever get around to asking me.

Yeah, I've found XMNavTraffic to be kind of useless and more of a curiosity tool than anything. SiriusXM music on the other hand is a whole new beast. I can not and will not return to terrestrial radio. The content SiriusXM provides is amazing, and sometimes I just don't want to fumble around with my CD's or 10,000+ songs on the USB stick. Plus, I usually listen to music I wouldn't ever purchase in a store.

I dunno - I've had my car 6 months now and never used the XM before this trip. I checked dozens of channels and found absolutely nothing I would be willing to pay to listen to. In the first place, I'm rarely in my car for more than 20 minutes at a time (to/from work, local errands - extremely rare long trips). Second, I'm a lover of classical music and the XM selections are very narrow and uninteresting. I have converted hundreds of favorite CDs to mp3 and have them loaded on a 16GB thumb drive - that provides all of the music I could ever want, and I continuously download new stuff to add. When I do listen to radio it's always NPR.

I have seen two since I bought my wife a 3.8 in March. I live in a town of about 55,000 and I have yet to see one around here. I see a few when I drop into the dealer on Saturday's for the free wash.

I went to the movies last night and saw Inception....not gonna get into the movie other than to say I wasn't overly impressed...UNTIL...I noticed at one point they jump into a red Genesis for a car chase sequence. I kept pointing it out to my wife to let her know that was my car...she loves me so she humored me and smiled. I don't know if that actually counts as seeing one on the street though

I just returned from a 750 mile round trip from the LA area of California up to Mount Hermon near Santa Cruz. I saw one Genesis in titanium, with a rebadge on the trunk but not front, like mine, only with a V-8. Trip went mainly up the 101 through Santa Barbara, up over the mountain by Lake Cachuma and down into the valley through Los Olivos, over to the coast near San Luis Obisco, up through wine country and farmland and into the redwood forest of Santa Cruz and back. An absolutely beautiful drive I would heartily recommend to anyone. Out of LA, the road was a bit choppy but not uncomfortable, but once out of Ventura, ride was silky smooth for the most part and the Genesis was a dream. Mountain driving was no sweat as the Genesis is sure footed and powerful. Cruising in my Genesis through some of the most beautiful land in the US and listening to my MP3 CD was delightful (until my wife asked if we could listen to something more modern!). No attention required with climate control from 100 degrees to 50. No rain. Gas mileage was about 26.5 measured with some mountain driving.

Great room, comfortable, crisp handling, powerful, efficient, I have had some great cars, but nothing compared to the Genesis.

[QUOTE
Are we the only mad ones out there?[/QUOTE]

Genesis sales January through June reported at 12,900 versus 9,940 over the same six months in 2009. That's an increase of +29% year over year.
For June, Hyundai reports Genesis sales of 2,569 in US, up from 1838 a year ago, which calculates to a 39% increase.

Note these stat's are not broken out by Genesis sedan v. coupe.......I am guessing ratio of sedans to coupes sold monthly is 2.5:1.

My family and I just returned from a Florida vacation. We drove my Nissan Armada down I95 to Orlando for a 9 day stay. I did not see one on the way down, which now that I think of it, shocked me! It wasn't until we were leaving the Hilton Parc Soliel at 7:30 Am in ht emorning to return home that we saw a black Genesis, just like mine! That was a weird experience.

:)

I saw Silver one in the Clackamas Promenade this weekend with Hyundai badges!!

I live in montgomeryville Pa, outside of Phila. In the past month I have seen over ten Genesis in Phila general area. The color most seen is Black/Black which is the color I have. It's like Lexus, BMW and MB on every corner.I like not seeing a Genesis on every corner and this was a reason I did not get another Lexus
