If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I owned my 22 G70 3.3 Sport Prestige for a little over 13 months.

Overall I was satisfied with the G70 but just wanted to note some my the Pros and Cons for me.

My G70 obviously had all of the options and plenty of power. Very comfortable with many features although I did not use most of them.

Some of the things that I didn’t like was that during warmer days the dash and headliner would make creaking and cracking noises. Did not feel solid.

Generally speaking I enjoyed the G70. My main issue was with service, updates and dealerships.

There are about four or five Genesis dealerships in my area. I was told that when it’s time for service that the service department would bring me a loaner, take my car to the dealership to get service and bring it back to swap. This never happened. They would rarely answer the phone. If they did, I would be put on hold or told they will call back. Never was able to get a loaner, ever. I understand this was due to “supply chain” but I know there are some Hyundais parked they could have offered.
This was one of the benefits of owning a genesis that I was never able to take advantage of.

There were random updates done to the g70 and indicator lights such as “road uneven surface” which would never turn off and making a beep every 10-15 seconds. Again, it was not convenient to schedule or get a hold of service. When I did get in touch they could not talk service over the phone and wanted me to drop it off so they could look and then schedule an appointment.

Overall the G70 was nice but genesis service was not acceptable. I spoke to a salesman and they said they overheard that most Hyundai/genesis dealerships want to drop their Genesis line.

That’s my 2 cents.

Seems strange that you made an account just to post this but okay. Genesis is clearly not doing enough to force dealers to behave and perform like a luxury brand. The vehicles are great but the dealer/service experience is clearly turning people off.

It's my understanding that Genesis has a policy that loaners must be Genesis branded vehicles which would likely explain why you were never offered a hyundai.

Yes, I did make an account to share my experience about the G70 but mainly the service. Which IMO is something important to consider.

The “uneven road surface” notification was due to out dated navigation maps. I just fixed this myself by downloading the update to my pc from the Genesis website, copying the files to a flash drive and updating the car with the flash drive. I don’t have any creaks, just some clear coat pealing off one rim. I love the power.

2023 G70 owner. I too suffer from the same dealer/service issue. 2 month wait to get in and receive a loaner. If I knew this ahead of time I wouldn't have purchased the car. Genesis needs to hold the dealers accountable. Very frustrated.

I had this problem on my first visit, but I learned how to work the system. As soon as your service is complete, make an appt for your next service which will be in the next 5 months, and also make reservation for the loaner at same time. My dealership has a small office for them just next to service advisors

Both of your issues were solvable. We've had our G70 for just a little over 2yrs and so far the dealer service experience has been great... because we've had NONE! We've got no warranty issues, and the regular maintenance (really just oil change and cabin filter) isn't worth the hassle, even if they do come with a car. It's a 30min job in my own driveway, I know exactly what I put into my car, and no grease monkey ever touch it.

That said, while I myself bought the G70 for the car- not the dealership experience - I do understand that a lot of folks do want/expect the luxury car dealership experience, which many Genesis dealers are falling short of providing that to their customers. That is not acceptable, and you have every right to be disappointed.

Genesis knows this and wants to fix it, with standalone dealerships, but it is not happening fast enough. That's unfortunate.

Problem I see with doing your own oil changes is if you ever need to use your warranty they will probably try to deny coverage since you didn't have the car serviced at the dealership. I've heard time and time again, how corporate tries to screw everyone out of warranty claims and try and find any little thing to deny the claim. One of the things I heard was specifically not servicing the car at the dealership. Otherwise I'd love to do the same thing and have the confidence knowing that good oil was used and that it was done right. But I don't want to take the chance of warranty claim being denied.

That fear is unfounded, at least here in the States. See here: Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act - Wikipedia Magnuson Moss explicitly prevents mfrs from requiring service work done at their own dealerships to maintain warranty. I've been driving for nearly 40yrs and have owned countless cars and motorcycles. Did my own maintenance on every one of them. Never once did any dealer give me any lip about not honoring warranty work because I did not let them do the service work. No doubt some unscrupulous service managers might insinuate that, if the owners look gullible enough to take the bait. Unfortunately, enough are, so the myth perpetuates.

That said, can a dealer/mfr deny warranty for lack of maintenance? If the car show clear signs of lack of mfr-specified scheduled maintenance... Absolutely. They have every right to. The right to do one's own maintenance does not mean the right NOT to do it. If you show up with engine trouble and they drop the oil pan and find sludge everywhere... yeah, that's on you. Or, if you have brake trouble and your brake fluid looks like it still has the original factory fill... 5yrs later, yeah... prepare to pay out of pocket.

Don't believe me? Ask you own dealer service manager - point blank - "Does scheduled maintenance work have to be done at the dealer service dept to maintain warranty?" Even better, call up Genesis Customer Service and ask. See for yourself what comes out of the horse's mouth.

I've also been driving for nearly 40 years and I fully understand this is how it is supposed to be, assuming you keep all your receipts of the oil and filters purchased. I'm just telling you about the horror stories I see online about Hyundai/Genesis trying to deny warranty claims. And it's not just a few, its a ton of them. It seems they are infamous for it, and that's unfortunately their reputation at this point. Even if they eventually cover it due to the law, it seems they fight you every step of the way, and it gets dragged out for a long time.

Unfounded. I’ve never let a dealer or oil change place touch my cars for simple oil changes and I’ve never worried a dealer may try to fink out on warranty work. Folks are too damn paranoid. I always keep the oil filter box lid, write down the mileage and date of change on that lid and stick that in the glove box. I can easily prove all my maintenance and have zero fears a dealer will attempt to deny warranty work. Dealers don’t generally go around attempting to find a reason to void a warranty. The manufacturer will reimburse them so no logical reason to deny warranty unless visible modifications are showing or obvious signs of foul play.

That's the problem. You are arguing purely on stuff you read/heard online. In just about every case, these folks are venting their anger online. Do you really think they are going to describe the situation in a fair and impartial manner?! Are they gonna tell you about the part(s) where they are at fault. It would be like slapping their own face. Not likely.

It is quite common for folks to post - here and especially on FB groups - asking whether dealers would deny warranty if they found out all the performance mods they did. I bet you dollars to donuts, some of these owners are asking because they already done f'ed up their car. There are no shortage of G70/Stinger owners who mod up a storm, then mess up their engines, try to hide the mods, and expect the mfr to fix their f'ed up car. Then when the dealer/mfr deny warranty, they get all PO'ed and come out here to badmouth the mfr/dealer. Yeah, that's a real problem with this platform and likely partly why Kia decided to axe the Stinger.

It's plain and simple. The Law is on the side of the honest owner who do their own honest maintenance work. As long as I am on the up and up, I have nothing to fear.

And if I do mod my own car, which I absolutely do, I have no problem owning up to my own responsibility for taking on the risk. Most of my mods are suspension related, and I'm not even gonna bother trying to hide them from the dealer, or try to stick them with repair bill.

That said, if totally unrelated stuff goes south on any of my cars under warranty, you bet I'm holding the mfr to honor their warranty. The key phrase is PLAUSIBLE CAUSATION. Without it, dealer has no grounds to deny my warranty. With it, they have every right to tell me to go FO.

Haha, ok man, Well all I can say is I hope you are right, because my stomach turned the past few days after taking a deeper dive into researching Hyundai/Genesis' reputation. On a side note, I do always find it comical when people mock what someone heard online....you know...the old..."Oh you heard it online so it must be true" bit, yet they themselves are having a conversation online. So what you are saying here is just more of what "I heard online".

Again, I hope you are right because I just purchased this (See pics), this past weekend. My First Korean Vehicle, and my first ever sedan. I Normally only have sports cars and trucks. My beloved F150 was recently totaled by a woman who ran a red-light, so I had to get a new DD, and I wanted to try my luck with an AWD sedan. So far I am very happy with the car. Very smooth and luxurious, lots of features, and plenty of power. I also have an 825hp Mustang in my garage, so speed is relative, but this thing definitely gets up and moves for what it is.

BTW, if you want to see it in writing, read your OM, section 9.4 Owner's Responsibility. It is spelled out in black and white. Maintenance and repair by an authorized retailer of Genesis branded products is "recommended", not required.

In fact, ask any dealership, of any brand. I've yet to hear any of them dare utter anything contrary to the law of the land.

Welcome to the silver club! What colour is your interior (I don't know if the interior colour description is for red interior or black with red stitching)? Mine is also a 2023 3.3 AWD SP (well, just Sport in Canada), Savile Silver with Sevilla red interior. Overall pretty happy with a few exceptions (audio quality, single USB in, tiny fuel tank/range).

Thanks! My interior is black with the red stitching and red seat belts, it's really nice. I'm really enjoying the car so far. I love how smooth the car rides, and the feel of the interior materials, especially the nappa leather. It's also quite fast, relatively speaking. Luxurious and sporty all in one. The Lexicon premium audio isn't amazing or anything but sounds pretty good to my ears.

I agree that the interior design and materials are quite nice.

IMHO all of the 6 cylinder cars in this category are faster than you need/want for street use - anything quicker than the mid-5 sec range only gets you bragging rights, it's already got more than enough power for daily use (particularly in Long Island, between rough roads and speed trap central!). I often tell people, quite truthfully, that I have more fun driving my 135hp 1999 Miata than I do my 385hp 997.2S - its much more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow!

I drove on my summer tires for the first time today - they were quite over-inflated @ 48psi, but the car still rode quite smoothly even in Sport with the over-inflated tires. I'm with you that Genesis has nailed it with the balance between luxury & sport, the BMWs are either too soft or too firm.

I'd say that the design (exterior and interior) along with that balance of performance and luxury were what sold me on this car. It's something I loved about my 2016 CTS as well (despite the G70 and the CTS having dramatically different design language, I guess I like unique but classy styling).

I hear your argument about driving a slow car fast being more fun, and I can understand it. the closest I came was when I had a modified C5 Z06 and my sister had a Cayman GTS. My car was definitely faster and wayyy more torquey. But when I drove her car aggressively it was just so much damn fun. The speed built slower and progressively, and the cornering was sublime. It also had a better ride quality. It was probably the most balanced feeling I ever had in a car.

But I've remained stubborn with American muscle. I've had several mustangs, 2 Trans-Am's, 2 Z06's (C5 + C6), and even a C8. And my DD for the past 7-8 has been two F150's. In fact the entire reason I bought this G70 was a woman ran a red light and T-boned me and totaled my truck, which was a 2018 F150 Supercrew XLT with the 5.0 and 10-speed. Loved the truck. Fortunately the woman's insurance company paid me only $4.5k less then I paid for it brand new back in 2018. So I went shopping and wound up with this.

As far as my current fun car in my garage it's a pristine 825hp 2017 Mustang GT premium with a long list of mods and only 5k miles on it. It's a lot of fun, 6-spd manual, but still a good amount of luxury with leather, heated and cooled seats, ambient lighting, nav, etc etc.

The G70 is of course much more luxurious and way more advanced tech and smoother driving. I really enjoy just cruising with it. The Sound system though has proven to be really odd. It totally depends on the source material. Some songs sound great, and others sound like I'm listening on a cheap radio. I used to be a bit of an audiophile and know all about feeding quality source material, but so far it seems to have no ryhme or reason. It's all over the place. Will work on figuring it out. Oh and I have a harder time getting in and out of this car then I do my mustang, lol. Also , the cooled seats are better in my mustang.

But all said and done this is a really sweet DD, I truly enjoy driving it.

Wish I could share some pics, but this forum says every file is too big, lol.

I’ve had a few Coyote/10spd Mustang convertibles as rentals, and have really enjoyed my time in the cars… I was actually planning to buy one to own for a couple of years, but then COVID killed the ex-rental market driving up used prices for these cars.

Thought hard about selling my 997 for a C8 when they were first taking orders. A buddy of mine bought one, loves the car. He’s tossed around trading it in on a 911 or a Cayman, but balks every time because he’s so happy with the Vette.

My wife drives a ‘20 F150 Coyote/10spd 4x4 SuperCrew Lariat, she loves it too. It’s a nice truck, but I prefer driving cars!

I fully agree with your comments about the sound system. Let me know if you figure something out!!

Nice! Yeah the Coyote's are great motors, plenty fast as-is but when you add boost it almost doubles the power. It's crazy. My mustang has a Gen5 Stage 2 Whipple SC. On my 2018 F150 Coyote truck I did a tune and E85 and for a truck it really hauled arse.

Regarding my C8, it was a 2021 I ordered from Criswell, took about a year, paid MSRP and the market was thru the roof, so I parked it in my garage and sold it with literally 4 miles on it for $18k more than I paid for it.

Currently have a deposit on an Eray with MacMulkin and currently # 300 on the list.

As to the F150's, I don't care what anyone says, they are just fantastic vehicles. I will really miss mine. But there is a trade-off with everything.
Cars are way more practical for a DD.

Here's a video of my C8 delivery. I loved it and it was painful to sell, but I couldn't leave free money on the table.

And my Current mustang:
