  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Creating this thread so we can see if there are others who have the issue. AC is lovely cold on the passenger side and rear seats. Drivers side set to same settings blowing not cold air. In a previous car this was an issue with the blend door actuator... but that was a 10 yr old vehicle.

I'm going to make sure I have plenty of data/scenarios before I send it off for warranty repair - I'll keep everyone posted. (I'll be checking actual temperature of blowing air, comparing with different outdoor temps, etc...)

I've only had the car a few days... so I'm going to drive for a short bit longer and deal w the AC issue to make sure that if I'm having Genesis service, I can address any other issues all at the same time.

Interesting. Mine is blowing cold air in all area's. I shut down the rear vents completely. Tons of col air even on fan setting # 2. Here in Phoenix if I had an A/C issue I'd know about it quickly :) .

LOL - yeah my car would already be in for repairs if I were dealing w PHX heat. (I tried closing off passenger and rear vents just to "force" AC to my side... If it's a blend door issue it won't solve it...)

New California climate control target...

Perhaps the guy on the assembly line grabbed the wrong actuator and yours is from a 10 year old Accent by mistake.

For the sake of describing symptoms fully, in case someone searches for ac issues months from now,
1. Is it strictly a higher temperature of air coming out of driver side vent(s), and not also a reduction of air flow?
2. Does the issue repeat regardless of the setting of fresh air coming in from outside vs recirculating inside cabin air (ie. Sometimes called Max AC)? Button #9Screenshot_20210719-171130.webp

Air flow is not reduced. The temperature feels equal to whatever the vehicle is bringing in from the outside.

Yes... both recirculating or fresh air give same results.

Additionally - HEAT mode works just fine on both sides set to sync all.
HEAT to passenger side and COOL to driver side results in hot air delivery to passenger and cooler (but not cold) air to driver.

After I've had my dealership diagnose - I'll keep the thread updated with symptoms and diagnosis/prognosis. :)
Additional questions and workarounds are welcome. Waiting for call back from my Genesis Service Advisor tomorrow.

*BUMMER that I'm already having my car dissected - 250 miles into my ride. :(

Try going into settings and reset everything back to Factory Defaults...

just in case there's been a software hiccup.

Does anyone have a possible solution for this? Same thing started on my 2019 G70 about a month ago.

Took it to the dealership and they "could not replicate" the problem after a week of "trying" and concluded the ac worked properly. Not sure what scientific method they employed, but simply holding my hand over the vent told me otherwise. It was 80 degrees outside and I'd say that was about how cool the air blowing on the drivers side felt.

I'm taking it to another Genesis dealership but the first available appt isn't for 3 weeks so I've got plenty of time to do my homework.

When they said the AC was working properly they may be right. Sort of. They can put some gauges on the system check the charge and say it is Ok. Maybe checked air temp at the center vent.

What you need is temperature readings. You may have an issue with the dampers, not the AC sytem itself. Run the AC on maximum and using a probe thermometer, take readings from driver, passenger, center vents. Record the readings and the outside air temperature. Repeat it a few days later. If the damper is intermittant that would help show it.

I don't know how much variation there is across the vents but the dealer should have a spec.

Thanks for the reply EdP!

I will look into the damper issue. That's a new one that I haven't heard yet.

The temp disparity between the two sides is drastic, so like you said they could've only checked temp on one of the cool vents and thought it was good. Even though I clearly described the issue being on the drivers side, there's no guarantee that's where their attention was focused.

The chances of it actually not replicating, in my opinion, are close to zero since, unfortunately I've had a 100% success rate in replicating it over the last 2 months. But the temperature readings are a good idea! At the very least I'll have a rebuttal for the next guy that draws the same conclusion.

Had the same problem last year, turn out to be the A/C Evaporator, Part took 2 months to arrive, they change the evaporator on my GV80.

Car is in the shop now. Same problem. I’ll let you know what they say.

Got the car back. Diagnosed as low Freon. No leaks found. Fix: Evacuate system, refill with Freon with dye.
Some background:
Freon is only covered for the first 12 months unless it is in conjunction with a repair/leak etc.
The system only holds 1.2 lbs of Freon so a fraction low can cause a/c temperature issues.
Genesis/Hyundai does not put dye in the system from the factory so they have to add dye in order to find leaks.
Service Rep advised he is seeing many newer cars coming in with low Freon. His explanation is might be due to heat and humidity (Florida).
I call BS on that.
Told to take the car and bring it back if the problem reoccurs. They said they would credit back the repair cost if a leak is found.
Cost of evacuation and recharging with dye is $500. Discounted price $325.

A/C systems are closed loop systems i.e. totally sealed. If there is any loss of refrigerant then there is a leak in the system that needs to be repaired, period.

Bought the GV80 3.5 advanced at the end of the year (2022) for my wife. We're in the Atlanta area. A few months later, the driver side ac started blowing warm. They charged it up as it was low and added tracking dye. It went out again about 2 months later. We were about to head out of state for a trip so they wouldn't do a loaner so they charged it up again to get us by. It's now in the shop for a hopeful permanent solution. I'm betting this is more prevalent than we think. I'll keep y'all posted.

Having the same issue on my 2022 GV70. The air is coming out just fine (cold) on the passenger side but hot (meaning outside temp).
I dropped off my car last week and they got back to me today that is the evaporator. I was not able to get a lot of detail of the issue as I was working at the moment I was reached out by the dealership but I was told that they don't even know when the replacement will be here. It appears that a lot of GV70s are having the same issue and the parts are backordered. Lucky me right? specially living in FL lol.

My GV70 just started doing this as well. Cool on passenger side, hot on drivers side. Hopefully this gets resolved soon!
