  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

So I hit my first charging snafu last week, and took some time debugging it...

I was plugging, the car would say "Charging started" when I would connect it, only to stop very quickly after. In the dash I even briefly saw a "V2L connection error" message but I was not quick enough to grab a picture of it before it vanished, also wondering why it wanted to give out any juice while my intent was to provide it with current. I even got the lights glowing red next to the connector.

As luck would have it, my charger would not respond to Bluetooth (Never mind Wifi, I gave that up long ago), which often coincides with a new firmware update being available for install (It's a Wallbox branded charger, don't buy one).

So to reset the charger I had to turn off and on the main breaker for my condo unit, then was able to connect with Bluetooth and install the update... Only to have the exact same result afterwards.

Then I realized a few weeks ago I had changed an option on the car to lock the cable while charging, so I turned that back off and the problem disappeared (I suspect the Genesis' locking mechanism not to be fully compatible with the gun).

Anyways this setting can be adjusted back on the fly if I go to a public station where I intend to leave the car for a while (So almost never in my case)...

Just thought I'd share in case anyone else would encounter the same kind of issue.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing that info. Haven't had any charging issues so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

So far I have only charged at home with no problems. I have the Grizzl-E Classic home charger which came highly recommended and so far works great.

It's a strange situation for sure, but for the past week and a half I've been really looking forward to getting my hydro bill just to see how much difference it makes to run an EV. Lol

Where are you based? Here in QC it should be around 1$ per day... Nothing really to lose sleep over. 😉

I'm over in Vancouver. Thanks.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
So I got a glitch since the past few days and reinstalling the app didn't fix it, this happens when I try to use the app to remote start the car.

I doubt the issue is with the car itself, I'll send that screenshot to my salesrep this week.

I'm waiting for the solid state batteries to be implemented before I go EV - I tend to keep my vehicles for 10-15 years so I need to wait for a bit of a tech breakthrough first.

Delivery is set for Thursday afternoon. My guess is that Genesis sent about 500 cars to Canada in various combinations. If they allocate those equally among dealers, perhaps my colour choices were a match with what was available.
How's your white interior holding up so far? I'm getting the white interior on the second eGV70 i just ordered. Hoping it works out better than it did on the Velar.

Don't know about his interior but so far mine is okay, I did a treatment when I got it and paid extra for premium maintenance, so if any bad stains happen, they should take care of it...

Still waiting over here for the Grey with Black interior...no news from Langley BC dealership on possible delivery(ordered early April), could be next year. I also have order in for RX450H+ (PHEV)...as a current Lexus customer, my wife would prefer to stick with one....this one should arrive this fall. Then to really mix things up the MB GLE 450 PHEV is scheduled to also arrive this fall. As I wait on the sideline, guess I will have to commit once they call me to pickup....as all the deposits are refundable. Watching everyones experience with GV70ev to see if I should wait it out? I"m indifferent on going with a BEV or PHEV...it's all about a quality car.

You ordered an electric GV70 back in April and you STILL don't have it yet?? That's ridiculous. Hopefully you'll get it soon, because I'm pretty confident you're going to love it. I seriously think it's the best vehicle Genesis currently makes.

After driving the eGV70 for a couple of days, what can I say....it's simply AWESOME!

As much as I loved the 3.5T GV70s I had before, this thing is truly on another level. It's so utterly unassuming that nobody knows it's an EV. It's pretty funny when you hear your unsuspecting passengers literally gasp when you apply even just 40% throttle in Sport mods as the car just accelerates at warp speed.

Like a lot of EV-naysayers, I had always found it easy to dismiss the idea of going electric because I loved the V6, V8, V10, flat-6, and Turbo inline-5, etc engines I've been lucky enough to own. But this eGV70 is such a perfect package of understatement, creature comfort, instant power delivery, practicality and affordability that it's easy to recommend others to give it a try.

Throwing in one more quick snapshot taken earlier this evening in rainy Vancouver.

I used to own a Tesla Model Y. This eGV70 beats that Model Y in many fronts, e.g. quality, fits, luxury, quietness, comfort, design, etc. except Tesla charging network.

Just picked it up! Absolutely loving it. Will post pictures later, but kudos to Genesis for making improvements to the all-weather mats. Might seem trivial but the ones on my new car are far easier to install than in the previous GV70s (and GV80 for that matter). The grommets on the mats fit far better onto the floor mounted hooks making it much easier to install and remove. Also, the one long mat for the rear passengers don't even use the hooks at all. There's now a dome-shaped section that the hooks fit under to make installation and removal easier than ever before.

Yeah it's a weird thing to focus on but just wanted to mention it.
I called my Genesis dealer in Minnesota to inquire about Genesis branded all weather mats. They told they are not availableyet. They recommended Weather Tech instead.Just wonder why.

Our USA counterparts are also getting some free charging and other perks...I did ask reason about this, got no reply from Dealer. Not sure the Dealers here are committed to EV, or they just don't have much to offer, so they focus on the ICE versions. With the current price reductions by Tesla, Ford...etc, not sure I still want to pay the extra $20 grand for the EV version of the GV70....guess I will cross that bridge once they say my car is on the way.

We do have 5 years concierge service when the US has 3 if I remember correctly... Also the Vancouver port strike is wreaking havoc on deliveries...🙁

My dealer says , he will advise me once my GV70 is built in Korea...and then upon arrival in Vancouver port..then two weeks before I get it. Since nothing is coming my way from Genesis..assume it's not even close to being made....have no numbers on production volume for Canada....so port strike does not affect my car...at this point.
