  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I was washing my car the other day and noticed when I was spraying down the car a large amount of water was accumulating around the driver side windshield wiper motor area at the bottom of my windshield. It seem to stay there a long time. Is there supposed to be a seep hole there to allow the water to drain? If so where is it and what's the easiest way to clean it out?

Hey! I was wondering the same thing. I went out with a flash light and could not see a seep hole at either washer. I don't no if I would want to drill a hole without making sure that there is nothing I could hit. I will check with the dealer the next time I am in but I do not know when that will be as I have not had anything to take the car in for. I will just soak up the water with paper towel or a cloth it really is not that big of a deal but would be nice if there was a seep hole.

After I read your posts I went and washed the car (2010 4.6). I flooded the windshield wiper bay to see if I had the water build-up. No! It would drain faster than I could fill it up... hose on FULL BLAST! I couldn't see where it was draining, so I opened the hood. I then could tell that it drains around the windshield wiper 'pivot point' ... in other words where the shaft comes up from below. It drains around the round shaped base of the wiper blade. I hope I'm describing it ok. I would suggest blasting the area with the hose to remove any dirt, leaves and debris. It really drains pretty fast. Good luck!

I had to wash my car this morning and followed your advice and everything is draining fine now. In case you do not know you can move your wiper arms away from the wind shield by turning on the ignition, turn off, move wiper stalk all the way up and pull it towards you hold it for a second or two, wiper arms will now move all the way up and stop. Now you can go outside and pull the wipers arms away from the glass for easy cleaning of glass and flushing around the base of the wiper arms.

Thank YOU

I know, thread revival - but I thought it was strange to see my car doing this. I tried cleaning the area but it still doesn't drain. Guess I will have to wait until there is more light outside and look again. Pic below.
