  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello Forum! I'm Gene. I used to sell Hyundai back in the 20-teens. I always wanted a coupe, but went to college first.

Only recently could I finally own one. I have a 3.8 B2 and desire to make it some sort of envisage if what the second generation could be. (V8 perhaps?)

Good to be part of the group.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Genesis Coupe! I'm glad you found us. :) What did the Genesis replace for you?

My coupe replaced five years of nothingness! I had a brand new 2008 Santa Fe. It was replaced with a 2006 Nissan Murano (dark years). My time in my Murano had me miss Hyundai so much. It was time to get a car, I'm getting old and thought that it was time for my first sports car. I sold Hyundai for a few years in the 20-teens before college.

I had an intimate knowledge of the coupe as I was a top seller of them. So naturally, this was my first choice.

I'd love to work on her and get a more powerful energy delivery platform under the hood and body. I'm hoping my theory checks out being that the coupe shared from the sedan and can accomodate a 4.6 Omega.

So yeah, I have plans. My 3.8 is a base model, so not too much frilly stuff adding to the GVWR thus allowing me to do some good engineering.

It's going to be an adventure, for sure.

Well this is certainly an adventure I'd like to stay informed about. I'm going to follow your posts as I'm really interested to see where you go with this build...

Totally! My car is used, 2 owners, minor previous damage properly reported and repaired. She's a base model, so rather light and a good framework to do a build, for sure.

Parts of the front bumper is not correctly fastened, and the wheel wells don't have the liners. The cat is 100-something-teen thousand miles. The engine is purring like a kitten, and roaring like a lion when I throttle-up. Transmission is spinning always asking for more energy.

She really wants to show-off and throw-off preconceived notions that this thing is a not so serious plaything for Koreans. I guess I'd ask Hellcats and stingrays to be cautious of their surroundings.

I'm going to take an engineer's approach with this build. I'm seeing areas where I desire one-off custom and functional elements placed on the car.

Right now I'm establishing my baseline. I'm learning her as-is, then I'll try and get her back to OEM specs. From there, I'll do a full rework at a body repair shop. From there, I can start designing as if the car is a 1st Gen B3 With a V8 and an Nsport kit.

I hopefully can learn how to get the HMC and HMA engineering, maintenance, parts, and repair manuals. I need to study the Genesis Coupe and get an intimate knowledge of the details behimd the car.

I'll need more information and performance information center systems to be built into the car. For this car to be an international tourer, there is other systems to be placed on it to allow it to be roadworthy in other countries.

I'd hope for this car to run F1 and Le Mans tracks along with super cruising 2,000 miles per day, minimum. So with a driver's information center, perhaps the passenger can be a systems manager.

FLIR, Radar, and laser rangers are invisioned to be added for more road safety. I envision actuated components, too. 2 independent wings, waste gates, air coolers, actuated aerodynamics elements, extra fluid coolers, APU, generator, light entertainment, high capacity fuel tanks . . . . . Things that will allow a hopeful 8 hour-long super-cruise.

I guess like a roadworthy, road legal Le Mans-type?

The sky is the limit if you have the budget for it. I don't see how anything you mentioned would not be possible. Being a rear wheel drive car, the sky is the limit as far as power is concerned. You just need to make sure the engine, transmission and rear end can handle it. But all possible.

Mr. Collaziano, you're correct on that motion! I'd love to make more posts talking about my progress, details, and even ask questions. Last night, I tried to learn how to even start a commentary and post it. When I do, with a little technical help on how to post to our forum. I'll be more than happy to keep up with the community! But yes, budget! I'm devising the plan to raise the capital this week, actually.

Hey Sal! I'm happy to return to your forum. I'd like to inform:
( 1) My Genesis Coup is old with one-hundred-something-teen miles on the engine with matching numbers to the rest of the car. So with the mileage, I'm wondering if it is a suitable frame to do some very good modification work on it?

( 2) I had to take my Coupe off the road. A ball hitch from a lifted pickup truck penetrated my upper grille and the bottom of it's bumper slammed down on the very front and top of my hood. The damage was assessed at $10,000. This is mostly due to a overhaul needed for the front bumper clip and the fender and wheel well assemblies. Othe expensive work is the hood replacement and painting. The mechanical work needed is new compressor hoses, radiator assembly, and a new radiator mount. Engine is in-tact!!

( 3) I can either repair my car as if it is an automotive claim . . . . or . . . I . . can . take this as an opportunity to make an awesone mod. I desire to put a V8 in this sucker. I need to start getting engineering and maintenance services books. I also want to learn about the similarities between the coupe and the sedan. I am theorizing that the hood and engine bay is the same in shape and dimension as the sedan. If so, I am theorizing that I can ideally drop a V8 Omega engine into it?

( 4) I looked at the price of OEM body panels online. For me, relatively, the panels are inexpensive, in that I could buy a few and learn how to put slits in them to improve airflow, dynamics, and for adding actrive mechanical systems. I'm also thinking about purchasing body parts that are already constructed and to be placed on the car. So for me, instead of replacing OEM panels, or putting on OEM panels, I wouldn't mind looking into aftermarket panels to bolt on instead.

( 5) In all honesty, I cannot lern how to use our users' group's site. Can someone out there please tell me how I can start a thread with you all? I have so many questions to ask, and also; I have so many experiences to share, along with my desire to show progress with my resto-mod I'm planning for my street-matchoooon!

any takers?

Hey. It sounds like you've got a lot of work ahead of you. Here's where to get started asking questions:
