  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

That pearl effect in the paint is gorgeous! And the comparison with the German competition parked right behind it can't be avoided, Genesis pulled off its own much more inspired design (Even when comparing with the coupe version of these SUV's)...!
White sure stands out at night. And it’s a true white, not an off-white like on many vehicles. I love it. I guess that’s why we chose it.

Yeah, some whites look yellow in comparison! 👍

I also used a ChargePoint Level 3 charger last night for the first time. Went from 68% to 80% in less than10 minutes.

Cool, was it a 350KW charger? The fastest I tried so far was 180KW (Which I still found very decent)...!

According to the receipt in the app, it was a 62.5KW charger. It got to 80% so fast I decided to let it keep charging (because my kids and I hadn't finished our ramen, LOL). It went all the way to 100% in about 30 minutes or so.

Just one of those days...

Electrify Canada is about to open a station about 2 min from my house, in a Canadian Tire parking lot as a bonus. I can’t wait to give it a try - hopefully they have 350 kW chargers. My EVSE is set at 3.7 kW (had an easily accessible 20A circuit) so even a 62 kW charger would be a novelty. I won’t use the EC station very often but if I get caught with a low SOC and need a quick hit of juice it’s good to have it close by. Be curious to see if I can hit the 230-240 kW spec.

Anyone with range anxiety with the eGV70. I was just reading the specs. Just a 236 mile range for around $75K? Hmmm...
I dont have anxiety per se. I plug in at home once every 7-10 days and charge to 80%. On longer road trips, going through mountain passes, the car eats the battery up the hills, but regens a ton on the way down. Usually gain battery power and get 30+kms. The battery range display is pretty accurate over a long drive. You may chew through a ton of battery on hills, but the regen usually helps average out the usage. Having said that, I plan short washroom and food/drink breaks and top up at some DC fast chargers 50kw-150kw and can get 15-30% battery increase in 15 minutes. My long haul trips are usually only 320km, but up 2 mountain passes. So I prefer to not have any anxiety and just plan for a 15-20 minute stop and co-ordinate that with a break. Otherwise, if you are looking at 500-700km long road trips on a regular basis without any inconvenience, then get a hybrid. I just dont see range anxiety being a thing for most of everyday use. Longer road trips need a bit of planning and a bit more time. But for all the time I save no having to go and get gas for daily commuting, I would say the stops are a wash in time. I dont see why someone with an ICE car that has a range of 500km doesnt have anxiety. You still need to stop and fill up. The numbers of Fast Chargers along major highway routes is increasing and convenient. I don't see what the fuss is all about. My only gripe is that the mapping software on the gv70e doesnt estimate battery power that would be used when plugging in a destination. Considering all the data and topographical information available, the car should be able to estimate it.

On an another note, the GV70e connected services Gives some interesting data when you login through the website. According to my stats, of my monthly wH of power used, 42-54% of it is regenerated power and the rest is from the grid. Pretty neat to see that capability. Probably why I average 19.4kw/100km in the summer. Winter driving on studded winters has lost about 12-15% efficiency. Most times at 100% battery, the range shows 430-475km. I've been pretty happy with the range so far.

The land is pretty flat around here (Montreal), so the only regen you get is in city driving. That said, no range anxiety here either...

I read the EV6 was updated with a route planner with chargers in the nav application, if we're lucky enough the same might trickle down in a future Genesis update...!

The route planner was updated for Genesis too with the route planner including the chargers in the latest software update from earlier this month. You can download here Official Genesis Navigation Update Website

It has with the latest update. When the destination is entered a prompt asks it you want to search for chargers along the way if SOC isn’t sufficient to make it to the destination.

The 2nd picture shows the charging station that nav had selected to charge at.

I do have that. Just comparing to my buddy’s Tesla that actually estimates remaining battery. You are quoting a route that requires charging. If I went for a 300km drive with 90% I would like to know if the car thinks I’ll make it based on driving route (ie elevation changes etc)

There seems to be so many threads on the latest Nav update that I'm losing track of which is relevant.

Quick question, has anyone updated the Nav on their eGV70? I only saw an update for the 2024 but I assume it applies to the 2023 as well. Has there been any tangible improvements, any negatives?

^ Sebring, I updated the Nav system on my e-GV70 about 10 days ago. It took about 1 hour total. I did it in my garage with the car set to "Utility" mode.
So far I'm seeing no negatives at all. In fact the update fixed a nuisance recurring Bluetooth phone connection 'screen banner message' issue I was experiencing since taking delivery of the vehicle (May 31). So all is very good now. :)

Updated mine too a couple of weeks ago. There's also a new electricity consumption screen with bar graphs that show in real time how much energy is being put to the motors, HVAC, electronics and battery conditioning. It gives me great satisfaction to see the negative consumption (ie regen) numbers for the motors. All good so far with the update.

Thanks, everybody!

So I updated the software on both eGV70s and one welcome change I've noticed is that Genesis has recalibrated the volume readout. In the past, if the volume was turned about halfway up to max, the numeric readout would be something like 50, and it would top out at around 70. But now, after the update, going halfway to max is only at around 20.

^ Very good observation! I just checked my e-GV70 and following the software update I'm seeing the same thing. With the new volume readout recalibration, the overall volume range is now 0 (Min) to 45 (Max). This volume recalibration might have also solved the issue of "no sound from the audio system" that I was experiencing on initial vehicle startup (if I had set the volume to a relatively low number on the previous drive).

Haven't done mine yet but I'm soon due for the first maintenance and will let the dealership waste that hour (A 10 minute thing I would have done but this is pretty long)!

I did update their app and generally dig the changes, although it's still long to remote start the car, at least the app states that the command has been sent and becomes responsive again instead of staying stuck on that old spinner for 2 minutes like before...! That improvement alone is worth the update.

Just a quick note on the nav update: once you've downloaded the update onto your USB (the file size is just under 18Gb, so if you used a 16Gb USB on past updates, it won't suffice this time round), and you've inserted it into the car, you do have the option to run the installation while the ignition is off. So either leaving it overnight or just come back to the car after watching an episode of Blue Eye Samurai and you're good to go.
