BIG NEWS! There is a TSB that fixes 2017-2019 G90 Connected Services

Was wondering if you are able to upload the files.

We’ve been to 3 dealerships and none of them have any idea what we are looking for. They think it’s either the map update or they want to diagnose it for a couple days.

Did they really copy the files onto your usb so you could do it yourself? How did you get them to do this?

Go to the dealer , like I did , and show them the copy of the TSB . It’s on this chain. I printed it out and took it in and asked them to get the drive from Genesis. It took about 10 days. The dealer called me as soon as it arrived and I took the G90 in and within 4 minutes had all operations working again.
They also didn’t know what I was talking about prior however they had a lot of owners in my shoes as well. I was the 1st in my area to get the drive install and it’s done and happy

Up to this point, we haven’t printed it out (we’ve given them the TSB #) but so far no one wants to take it seriously and they all want to do extensive diagnostics even after we told them that we’ve already gone through that at least twice. No one is willing to look up the TSB when we give them the number. GCS told us we need to have the head unit replaced even after one of the dealers did a full head unit inspection and found nothing wrong. GCS wouldn’t even look up the TSB when we gave the number.

The last dealer wanted to keep my car for 3-4 days to “warranty” it and run a full diagnostic on it even after we tried to explain to them all that diagnostics had already been done more than once. They said they knew about the TSB, but they kept insisting on doing the above before they even do the TSB.

With this type of experience at these dealerships, what do you think the chances are that they’ll be helpful if I give them the printout? My son has been helping me by taking the car in since I’ve needed to be at work during those appointments, but I’ll have a chance to go on Tuesday, and I’m ready to call them out if they try to pull any of this on us. I’ll even tell them that I’ll pay the diagnostic fee for just plugging the USB stick in there.

When you all went to your dealer, did you have to set up an appointment to deal with the TSB? Do anyone here have any other tips that haven’t been shared here yet?

Sorry for the long rant— this has just been extremely frustrating!

I would strongly advise setting up an appointment. Also they should have the USB stick with the TSB on it BEFORE you go there. I would not even bother going until they have it in hand. If they say they have it, ask to see it.

This is exclusively for G90’s in model years 2017-2019. The G80 uses completely different head unit software.

It is a file that does a complete hard reset or the head unit tell them. It is unlike resetting using the small button on the unit we can all use with a paper clip .
This actually resets the unit deeper . 4 minutes that’s it!

Right now I’m dealing with the dealer wanting me to leave the car with them for several days so that they can “warranty” and do a diag on it. I talked to them this morning as we were scheduled to bring it in to make sure they had the TSB, and despite me explaining the situation to them, they said that I still needed to leave it with them (I confirmed it was because of backlog and nothing having to do with the process of the service that needed to be done). They said that even if they ordered the TSB and received it and we scheduled an appointment, we would still have to wait several days for my car to be done (doesn’t make any sense to me!).

I have trouble justifying leaving my car at a dealer for almost a week for a four minute fix especially since it has already gone through the diagnostic steps, including a head unit inspection. We emailed the TSB to them, and are waiting to hear back from their service manager to see if another expedited process could be done. I even offered to pay the diagnosis fee even if all they did was to plug the USB in.

I guess I will keep everyone here up-to-date. I actually have a cleaner PDF copy of the TSB (attached to this post) if anyone else here needs it.

So i’m back at it guys as of this morning I have no connected services to my G90. A couple of days ago I had to reset the head unit and that fixed the problem with it not starting remotely. But as of yesterday at 3 o’clock I’m back to where I was a year ago. Stay tuned.

So we reinstalled the update from the USB and the remote worked everything seems to be fine however, the point of interest are not working any longer. Once again totally unacceptable

What does that mean the POE are not working? What are you pressing and what is happening?

The POI is the button switch on my rear view mirror. When pressed you are able to ask for or set a destination or other commands and at this time they are not connecting and down. After the reboot in December they started working perfectly.
Now, let’s go back one year prior to the 3g shutdown the POI switch never worked then! And a lot of us had that problem. Here comes the TSB update and the USB reboot …everything worked until yesterday !
I will say I did an update on my iPhone but hopefully that didn’t have an impact on the issue .
Just a bit more and that 2 weeks ago I needed to reset the head unit as everything worked except remote start

The mirror button for POI search works via a Google search route. This was broken before the 3G shutdown due to a change Google made to the interface. Once Google fixed it (that took quite a while) it started working but then the 3G issue shut everything down. I’m not sure if the Google interface is having problems again. I haven’t tried it in the last few days. Any G90s have it working? I’ll try mine later. You should retry also In a few different locations.

You guys are making me nervous! A few weeks ago, I was FINALLY able to get a dealer that believed us, obtained the TSB USB stick and finally ran it on my system, and GCS began working again instantly. From the moment we drove into the dealership and leaving was less than an hour! Frustrating that a couple minute fix was delayed and dragged out for 6 months!

So far, the POI was working as of last week. this is making me nervous and now I’m going to have to check it again this week. @Mrskin - when did your POI and GCS go out again?

What update from the USB did you do to get at least remote services back? Did you need that TSB, or was it another update? Keep us up to date on the POI!

As far as I can tell @Mrskin is the only one who has had this relapse and it seems to be just with the POI on the mirror and not with the rest of the CS functions. We know that the mirror button uses the Google search interface totally separate from the rest of CS So it’s possible that this POI issue could be the fault of the interface (not Genesis).
Save your nerves, you will live longer.

I don’t use it every day, usually we use it once every week or two. After this recent experience of not having GCS for over six months and the incompetence of the customer service, I’ve just been a little on edge that something else may go wrong, but it is reassuring that there haven’t been any other reports of this.
 
@Mrskin I just checked the POI Google search function on my mirror. Works perfectly. I have found that there are occasional locations that don’t get signal. Make sure that isn’t your problem. What error are you getting? Do remote lock and remote start work?
