  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Have a general questions about maintenance...

I had a tiff with the dealership service dept and I don't trust taking my coup to them anymore. To give them a second chance, I took it to them for the "free" 3k mile service (oil change and inspection) and ever since weird things seem to be happening. For example, I hear strange noises with the suspension mainly. Can't really put my finger on it, but seems to be subtle popping noises every now and again from the rear. Does anyone else get their genesis serviced anywhere besides the dealership? I think id trust a local imports shop over the dealership anyday. Inputs?

Only once did I take the Genesis (or tried to) for an oil change not at my dealer (I was traveling and didn't bother to find a local dealer)... tried 3 quick lube places, none carried or could get the oil filter for the tau... I gave up and drove an extra 45 miles to a dealer in the area for the change....

NEVER go to a dealer. Buy my filters there and my synthetic oil at an Auto shop & have my local mechanic do the work. Keep ALL receipts !!!

Thanks for the info. Something just doesn't sound right about getting my car serviced at the very place where I haggled their asking price down. It seems clear to me that they are there to sell over priced cars, not keep them maintained. At least making a sale is more in their interst IMO.

From now on its going to my local imports shop, and I'll assist as needed for obtaining hyundai parts. I'm sure its worth the extra effort and will save me money and give me peace of mind.

What synthetic oil should I use? The temp where I live varies a lot. From -5F in winter, to 100F+ in summer.

It's clearly spelled out in the manual. I think it's 5W20. It's a little harder to find BUT watch for sales. Any of the brand name synthetics.. BUT, keep all your bills & receipts JUST IN CASE....
I live in more extreme weather conditions than you do.
