  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

And here comes another award (Also worth mentioning the Electrified G80 got one as well):

The funny thing is no matter how many awards this thing wins or how many amazing reviews it gets, people for the most part still have no idea what the heck it is. I find myself having to explain to people who keep asking what the heck am I driving? I really like how rare the eGV70 is. It was one of the main reasons I wanted it, and it feels great to know I made the right choice.

It's true, we're driving around in relative stealth mode, as opposed to the instant recognition coming with German brands (Which I don't find half as stylish inside and out).

I didn't get much interactions with fellow motorists, it might be due to not having to visit gas stations anymore and charging at home 99% of the time, but did get a few thumbs up.

Interestingly, I got a thumbs up from a guy in a blue McLaren yesterday.

Looks like Genesis is postponing going full electric, and the GV70 and G80 will come in plug-in variants, for the range-anxious. I say the more the merrier, it will make for another very desirable entry in the segment and since it was designed for both gas and electric powertrains, it shouldn't be that big an engineering challenge to adapt the platform for PHEV.

It may ultimately bring along more converts to EV's. I really enjoyed the moments of silence I could get when my hybrid RAV4 was coasting electric, and it then gave me a glimpse of how relaxing going full electric would be, I knew then my next vehicle would be an EV and I still enjoy the GV70 as much as day one.

A PHEV version could be a good option for someone doing a lot of long drives or living in an area deprived of a decent charging infrastructure.

A hybrid GV80 would be perfect for longer road trips. I would be interested in that for sure.

Would you go for the standard or coupe version?

I like the more stately silhouette of the standard GV80, but prefer the interior of the coupe. It's unfortunate that they didn't combine the two or at least make that an option. It would be the proverbial "athlete in a tuxedo" that makes cars like the Ferrari Roma, the new Vantage, the Velar and honestly most Genesis cars so appealing (to me anyway).

These cars are rare, I've had my car for ten months and have only seen one other GV70 EV, and that was a couple of weeks ago. I dirve a lot during the week and it's not like I live in a small town.

100%!! That's one of the best things about this car! I also do a fair bit of driving each day (my 12,000km first service on the matte gray is quickly approaching), and I see easily 200 Teslas a day.

In my area I see a lot of GV60s, GV80s and G80s. I don't see a lot of GV70s nor GV60s.

I got my 12 000 km service a few months ago, I see a lot og GV60's, a few GV70's and GV80's, some G70's and the G80's are rare (I have yet to see my first G90).

I saw another Electrified GV70 a few weeks after getting mine, last June or July (It came next to mine on the highway, a Malaku Gray metallic one and the driver waved at me), but I have yet to make another such encounter in the wild. Gas GV70's I see about once a week but the electric version is so rare, I actually had two ICE GV70's make a very slow pass with the drivers staring at mine...

I just read that the 2025 Ioniq5's large battery will go up from 77.4 to 84KW. The GV70 being built upon the same components, I somewhat have a feeling that the upcoming mid-cycle refresh is likely to include a similar improvement...

Won't trade-in mine for that though, I find its current range sufficient for my needs, and the upgrade probably not worth the price difference between my used one vs a new one (Even though the Electrified GV70 just got crowned as keeping the best resale value among luxury EV SUV's).

So it was our first winter trip to the cottage (Should have been way before, but scheduling conflicts dictated otherwise), and with the unusual weather it's looking more like a spring visit at the peak of thawing season.

The parking there is just sand, and it was frozen when we got there on Saturday. Not anymore, today it's soaked with water, and you can get ankle deep in it.

So to avoid bringing tons of mud in the car, I used the parking assist to back up the car over a dry area, maybe 20 feet back.

So this is not something that will happen at the local mall's parking, but know that as soon as slippage is detected, the whole system shuts down and you have to start the procedure all over again, just tested that. Worked well enough though (Only slipped twice)! 😉

I think this is a really cool feature. I don't intend to have my car park for me (when I need that I will be using Waymos instead of driving) but the ability to back the car out like you did, or if some ahole parked so close to me I can't get in the driver's door is terrific. So far, fifteen months in, I haven't had to use it but, as the saying goes, better to have it and not use it then to need it and not have it.

I use this feature all the time. It's really handy.
