  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Map and Software Update Discussion Thread

Well, another Genesis (Canada) app update was sent to my iPhone this morning. Like the last several updates, the descriptions suggests only bug fixes. In this case, this must mean that there were bugs that should have been in the last version, but weren't and so they made sure that they were apparent in this latest release.

The 'bug fix' release last month appeared to create more problems than it solved, and this one continues that trend. The last update made it so I could only do one thing with the app each time I launched it. I was able to get around this by shutting down and restarting the app each time I wanted to do something. Now, even the first attempted interaction is a failure. :wallbash:

Agreed, whomever is behind this app should be strung up for wasting time at the expense of our frustration.

I may have been premature in blaming the app. I’ve also noticed a problem with my nav system - where it takes over a minute to try and calculate a route, and then returns an error saying that there is a problem with network connections.
I wonder if there is a problem with my satellite receiver which is preventing proper communication with the app.

I think that it more likely to be using LTE than satellite.

My “Vehicle Status“ won’t update at all from the last two updates. If I want to remote climate start, no problem & push notifications for charge completion, doors unlocked etc seem to be working fine.

There is a VERY frustrating Nav issue with MANY GV60 and other late model Genesis’ here in the Vancouver BC area. The cars won’t update overall traffic congestion on the map displays (red green and yellow on major routes) and even trying to route to a destination will often result in “live navigation unavailable, now using onboard navigation” - or words to that effect. Genesis Canada has known about this issue for the better part of a year but has done nothing.

So, there’s a slight improvement in the overhead view, but now I’m unable to change camera views even after rebooting the system. The on screen buttons beep but will not switch anything. Frustrating when you rely on the curb view option.
I wonder if this is rolling out slowly. I still haven’t gotten this update but got the audio update earlier this month.

So… my app connectivity has gone to zero af the latest update.

I called the connective services line & after explaining my issues I was somewhat stunned when told the following:

A) When rebooting the head unit, you need to do it twice. ( Don’t believe I was told that in the past !)
Their procedure:
Below are the steps to perform a Vehicle Head Unit Reset.

This will potentially reconnect your vehicle and allow Genesis Connected Service to properly communicate with your vehicle's Head Unit once more.

1. Go into your vehicle and turn on the engine.
2. Find a small hole under or around the volume or tuner button.
3. Insert a thin object such as; a toothpick, paperclip, pin, etc... into the hole (in the event that you do not find a small hole, please press and hold the MAP + SETUP buttons simultaneously). Hold for 5 seconds, and then retract the object from the hole (or let go of MAP + SETUP).
4. Once released, please wait for 15-20 seconds so that the system resets properly.
5. Once the 15-20 seconds have passed, reinsert your object (OR press and hold MAP + SETUP) once more for 5 seconds and then retract.

B) After 96 hours of non use, the modem goes into a “Deep Sleep” & you may need a very strong signal or to reboot the head unit to wake it. Basically drive it into a Bell tower. Mine was supposedly in Deep Sleep. ( Wow, this technology seems rather stupid)

I was also told to delete & reinstall the app, no change.

At the end there was a short survey so I told them, I thought their customer support person was very nice but the programmers for the Connective Services app should be tossed out on their ear because they are rubbish.

Or simply disconnect the 12v battery for 10 seconds, and reconnect.

The head unit will not reboot while the vehicle is on. It needs to be in accessory mode.

6. Send Genesis an invoice for doing their work for them.

They should have offered to bring the car in for service and properly correct the issue.

That was my thought, I did mention that in my conversation with them. I don’t remember if in the past anyone mentioned, does that wipe all the setting’s memory too ?
Pretty stupid if one has to do this on any kind of a frequent basis. Deep sleep pfft..

It doesn't reset anything. Fortunately the only 12v reset I had to do ever was when I first received the vehicle.

See this post for details:

So, this was Genesis’ reply. Big surprise…🙄
If this is to be the norm, I think I’ll pop the panel off the back & install a push button to restart the modem when required.

iOS app was just updated with the 2FA feature Genesis has been sending notifications about. Only other change I can see is that it shows V2L Charge Transfer Detail under Charge Management.

it seems they changed the title from June to July. That's annoying, I was looking forward to this update. Stupid thing is, they didn't even change the contents in the entry. It all still says June.

First entry ‘System & Map Update v18.0 in June 2024’ under ‘General Inquiries’ states:
In June 2024, GEN 4 and newer system & map update will be available for free download at:
update.hyundai.com
update.genesis.com
update.kia.com

Why is it now harder to log into the app? It used to save my log in & password so I can easily access it. Now I have to enter in the log in, the password and get a code every time. Is this the same for everyone?
