Since buying my GV60 one year ago, I've mostly driven it everywhere because I rarely travel outside of a 200 mile radius of my home in Iowa. But now I'm on my first long road trip for a while, a vacation to the western national parks with my wife and kids. For this trip, we had to take my wife's hybrid Toyota Sienna (which I like and my wife loves!) to fit all of the kids and our stuff. I've spent 19 hours driving the last couple of days and it's been illuminating to compare this trip with the daily driving experience in my EV. Here are some things that stand out:
1. It's incredibly annoying to have to stand and watch gas pump into my car. I rather like plugging in an EV and leaving to use a restroom and buy a snack while it charges. Standing next to the gas pump seems like a waste of my time.
2. The transmission and engine drone is pretty obnoxious (this is mostly related to driving up the Rocky Mountains and is less prominent elsewhere).
3. Speaking of the mountains, the loss of power due to elevation is crazy to experience once you're used to the uninterrupted torque at all times in an EV.
Feel free to add to my list! I'll keep adding as I rediscover more on this road trip...
