  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Navigation Map and Software Update Discussion Thread

Not sure if an iOS18 or Genesis update "change" - but have you <or anyone else> noticed a change in audio behaviour during carplay \ siri announcements?

It used to mute audio on all speakers while siri spoke, but now only mutes the front, with music still playing from the rear speakers.

I'm not a fan, but have not found any way to change it.
I am not sure if I noticed that yet, but will try it later today and let you know if I do.

So I’m sitting in my car looking at the SW Info/Update screen. Do I have to “do” anything to prompt the OTA or do I just wait for it to start up on its own? How long did you wait before it started happening
I did not have to do anything, but it did take like 45 minutes and I had to leave my car running the entire time.

I just finished the download/update. It looks great. My only question is the turn by turn in the heads up display only for apple maps?

Sadly, no.

When Google Maps or Waze begins navigation, the HUD turn-by-turn instructions will still provide Apple Maps instructions.

If Apple Maps navigation is terminated, the HUD will no longer provide any instructions.

What kills me is that the Canadian Updater SAYS it's available for download, but it's the old file. 2024 1st Navigation Map and Software Update > Notice | Official Genesis Navigation Update Website

What the heck?!?

There's something screwy with the manual Updater software. Even if you change your country to USA and check, it still shows the April update that was distributed for the GV60, not this current Sept one.

I'm going to speculate that the OTA and the manual distribution systems are not tied together. Mapnsoft clearly posted the notice without properly making the content available. Meanwhile OTA updates, at least in the US, have been pushing out.

Still haven't seen any evidence of one of us Canucks getting this OTA

Question for Android folks who remember or who haven't gotten the update yet:

When playing music in Android Auto, does the "Now Playing" widget in the instrument cluster show the song information?

It does now but I'm trying recall whether it always did that or if this is another improvement like the turn-by-turn on the cluster/HUD.

I believe it's a selection in a menu of what you want to display

Updated! Looks good with AA. 1000008496.webp

Is this the same issue even with Gv60s with US vin numbers? I mean can US folks download the update from the Nav update software?

My smart support (seat bolster) did not stay set from last night :( I have noticed slight graphic changes on the dash board. AA wireless is working nicely. Love the HUD Waze integration.

OK, update is done!

Noticed my Star button under the HVAC got reset to "Sports" instead of the Phone Projection I had it set to. And when I went to reconfigure, I had many more options and (I think) all the same options for all programmable buttons! If I remember correctly, each button has a more limited subset of actions and I could have Phone Projection on any steering wheel buttons. I like this improvement a lot!

The Sports service does not appear to be active - I'm going to log into my Genesis account and see if there's something to enable there. (I am not a sports guy so not a priority for me.)

I don't know whether they added voice commands but after asking for "commands" and exploring I saw that I can open/close the front driver, front passenger, and the pair of rear window independently or do all at once. Can also trim on/off all the heated seats at once, too. This may be the same as it ever was but it was need to me.

What is the "surround sound bug" btw?
Funny, I had to change mine back to Phone Projection also.

Got my update in the U.S. just now. It only took a few minutes to install. Now I'm curious what happens when both my wife and I enter the car with our phones. How will it know which one to pair to?

You must have a super computer. 4+ hours for some of us. I only use one phone, my wife uses a fob. Some cars let you select which phone to make priority. You might have to manually select which profile you want to use.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
In my chat with the navigation/software team it seems the OTA version is different to the USB version (more streamlined to save bandwidth). They are still working on the ccIC version, could be a few weeks.

So if you have OTA, all good. If you need the USB, just gotta wait for them to get to it.

Does anyone know what cell service (in the USA) Genesis uses? (I'm assuming this OTA update is coming to the car that way, and not via WiFi). We have very poor cell service at our house and my update is taking over 90 minutes to complete. Wondering if I should get in the car and move it to an area with better cell coverage...

Oh, now that's interesting! I wonder what they "streamlined" to make it smaller?
