I had a 2015 v6 with an 8-inch screen and I did a full update on it in 2022. Unfortunately, it was totalled by hail this year.
So, I bought another used 2015 Genesis, but this one is the v8 5.0 litre with the 9.2-inch screen. If I put the SDCard from the old car in the new car it doesn't work, that's to be expected I guess. I updated the correct software to this "newer" SDCard and it still won't work with this car, even though it worked perfectly in the last car. The original SDCard that the V8 car came with still works, and the map works, but I want to update it.
I've put the update on a separate USB stick that is formatted FAT32, but the car will not recognize ANY USB stick at all. I've tried many (MANY). No USB stick is recognized no matter what I do. So, I came up with the idea of an exact copy of the working SDCard and put an update on that card. However, an exact duplicate of the working SDCard on to another SDCard isn't recognized by the Nav system, even before I update it. Yes, I do know all about FAT32, and I did a forensic copy, so I know it's exactly the same. Yet, still, the car only works with the original SDCard and not the duplicate.
Yes, I know Carplay isn't supposed to work with this. Please do not comment about that. I am trying to update the Nav. This car is somehow locked onto just this SDCard and it will not recognize any update USB or any other SDCard. I do know the USB port works, if I put my iPhone on a USB cable it recognizes my iPhone.
The only thing I can think of is that it needs to go into some kind of Dealer Maintenance mode perhaps?? Is there something like that?
Thanks.
