Just picked up a 2023 GV60 Performance from Carmax. Right at 2 years old with 29K miles, so plenty of warranty left, especially as I tend to only keep my daily drivers 2-3 years. Traded in my 21 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk (loaded with all options). We've had a PHEV for a while, my wife's 2016 Cadillac ELR, which we love. I figured as I hadn't been using the Jeep for any offroading, just around town duty, it was time to switch over to something with a little more luxury and some EV performance. The Jeep had the V8, which was decent performance (6.5 second 0-60), but it was first and foremost designed to be able to off-road, and thus compromised for ride quality and luxury. Of course, for outright performance, I have a 2024 Corvette Z06 and am about to swap it for a 2025 Corvette ERay (performance hybrid).
Anyway, we'd been looking at a few EVs including the Cadillac Lyriq, Jaguar E-Pace (wife's sister just got one) the Genesis GV70 and the GV60. I also briefly considered mid-level EVs like the Mach-E, Blazer, etc, but ultimately I wanted something with more luxury and performance. Both my wife and I refuse to do Tesla (she hates Elon Musk, I really dislike the hit-or-miss build quality on them, and their refusal to do AndroidAuto/Carplay). With everything out there for EVs, the GV60 just ended up being the best choice for what I wanted out of a daily driver (I actually work from home, so it's not that much of a daily driver). We considered new, but ultimately the depreciation hit for only keeping one a few years is brutal, and I dislike having a monthly payment, so leases were out. I would have preferred to find one that was CPO, but given the limited selection (especially for Performance trim), I was lucky to find one at a Carmax a state away and paid the $199 transfer fee.
So far, it is everything I hoped it would be. The performance is great, for most use there's no need to hit the boost button. Of course, I use it a good bit anyway just because it has it and I love acceleration. The wife's ELR is quick, but it's just FWD with a single electric motor. The GV60 with boost mode is shockingly
fast. Plus it's got all the luxury and tech I could want. The ride is excellent, the handling is decent, the controls are great (I absolutely love having physical buttons/switches for most things), and everything has been fairly easy to figure out. The interior is amazingly roomy, and actually has more passenger room than my Grand Cherokee did in the rear seat, and my wife loves that there's no center hump and that there's the open area between the front seats for her to sit her purse (little things like that can make a huge difference). My only real complaint so far is the tiny buttons on the key fobs (getting old and needing reading glasses sucks), but I'm sure I'll get used to the button placement over time, besides you really don't need the buttons on the fobs in everyday use.
I do need to get it into the local Genesis dealer for service as it has 3 open recalls (21G, 910G & T39G) for ICCU, VCMS & OTA stuck (which mine is stuck at 63% for the update). Fortunately I already had a wireless AA adaptor I was using on the Jeep and it works fine with a USB-C adaptor, but it will be nice to get the native wireless AA/CP working. I've also got an electrician coming out to do a 240V/50A install so I can run a Grizzl-E Duo charger for both the GV60 and the wife's ELR.
