  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

The letter I got specifically refers to 2023 & 2024 GV60, GV70 EV, and G80 EVs. The Recall Reference Number is R0256.

Hope that helps!
Thanks. That’s the same number of the recall that I had completed in June. Checked here too and there’s no open recalls. Genesis Canada Recall Lookup

Got in the car this morning and the interior lights were dead. Uh oh. The instrument cluster was also dead and the only thing illuminated was the start button. Of course the car wouldn’t start. I jumped it with my trusty Canadian Tire Motomaster booster pack and left it turned on for a few minutes. Then I hooked up the Ctek battery charger expecting the battery to be fully dead, but it was level 3 on the Ctek display which is considered to be charged enough to consistently start an ICE. A dead battery would be level 1. Left the Ctek on for a few hours and everything seems fine now. Annoying and puzzling.

Car was dead again on Monday morning. Jumped it and drove to the dealership. 12V battery is done. Said they were pretty busy and would look at it a "few" days. I can't get an update on the app which means that it is still dead. They also told me that they didn't have any loaner cars until Nov 7. Love the car and in the grand scheme of things a defective 12V battery is not a big deal. But, after 14 years of Audi ownership which included a S4, 2 x Q7, A6, Q5 and SQ5, I was never left without a vehicle. I guarantee the Audi dealer would have looked at it the same day I brought it in and would have lifted a finger to get me a loaner. Also, they would have called me on Tuesday to give me an update. Sorry Genesis dealer, you aren't in the same league as the others.

Sad to read that... They could have at least gotten you a car from Enterprise or any other rental if they didn't have any left (My dealership is just in front of such a company, across the street, so there would be some easy workaround there, but they will move out of Hyundai in a few months so we'll see how that turns out). My wife's cousin was on foot for a week when her Mercedes broke down, so Genesis is not alone to have dropped the ball on customers. But it really sucks that this happened to you...

My BMW experiences were like your prior experiences. I have not yet had to do an immediate service call but I have told my service manager that I expect that they would have a loaner for me when that happens or I would leave Genesis (there is a huge Penske collection of luxury brands not far away and that is where I had done my BMW business). He responded that he cannot guarantee a loaner on no notice BUT he expects that it would not be a problem as he has a lot of loaners (all ICE however). Looking around, I did see a lot of loaners parked there.

For my scheduled maintenance, I have always had a loaner.

If it were me, and I was told that there would be no loaners for me until November 7th, I would have walked straight over to the general manager.

By the way, I recommend that you do this in a friendly, non confrontational way. You love the car, appreciate what they are doing, but you need a better loaner service and that is what you had previously from Audi. Can she help?

Genesis corporate is on it. The dealer told me it would be 2-3 weeks to get a battery. I retrieved the car from the dealer and called Genesis to ask them how I can invoice them for the battery I was about to purchase from a 3rd party. They didn’t seem very happy with the dealer. I was informed that the issue was going to be corrected and I will be contacted tomorrow.

How did things go with Genesis Canada? Any update to advise?

Just for this day and for fun with my 8yo daughter, the ambiant light was changed from sky blue to 🎃... 😉

Happy trick or treat if you're going out there with kids tonight, among the monsters.

The dealer delivered a loaner the next day - a newer GV80. My car has been at the dealer for 2 weeks. It’s inconceivable to me that the 12V battery is that hard to come by. That being said it is a different part number than the one being used by the E-GMP cars which are not AGM. The part number for our battery is 37110-DS620.

I'm not that surprised, this backorder parts problem is plaguing the entire industry, if you just look at the front bumper there's 3 distinct ones on the GV70 alone: Sport, non-sport, EV, and the same goes for the rear bumper with different exhaust tips or none at all for the EV. The fact that you could wait a month could happen with virtually any brand, I know it doesn't make it any less disappointing, but it is sadly the world we live in now...😒

Electric motor to open and close, but it also has lighting elements and a heated function to help in cold climates. The port itself switches from a CCS-type plug to NACS, which is now standard (a CCS adapter is also included). Genesis gives the EV GV70 a bigger battery too, as its capacity grows from 77.4 to 84.0 kWh.

I prefer what they've done to it than the ICE front bumper. The stars in the door armrests are cool too, additional ramge can't hurt either! 👍

Very nice updates, especially the larger battery and NACS charge port. I'm not sure if I like the new style dash. I will have to see it in person to decide.

Hey All. Genesis Canada has just issued another recall on the ICCU with the 'remedy' not yet available. I think this makes it the 3rd recall on the ICCU. Third time's the charm? :ROFLMAO:

I agree that it is a nice update, with the exception of the dash. The affixed screens are not well integrated.

An update to my loaner saga. I got the car back after sitting at the dealer for 2.5 weeks. The loaner GV80 was decent but it’s a ponderous pig that sucks gas. It is no Cayenne, or GV70. As I left the dealership when I picked up the car there was a notification on the dash that the charge door was open (it wasn’t) followed by an audible chime. I have an appointment next week to fix the charge door switch. It would nice to get the ICCU recall done at the same time, but it doesn’t look like a repair is available yet. Will it ever be?

The local Genesis dealer (Langley, BC) put on a Customer Appreciation night on Thursday. On display they had a white GV70E, a car and 2 GV80 Coupes. The GV80 Coupes have the new style dash similar to what the 2026 GV70E will have. It actually integrates quite nicely. I could get used to it.

I also talked to one of the sales people about when we will be able to use the Tesla network. He wasn't sure but showed me that adaptors are now available. If you check on Amazon, they show a couple (or more) NACS to CCS adaptors. They mention that they are available for Ford and Rivian. They would no doubt fit our Genesis, but I am not sure if they would work? Any thoughts?updates?

We have a 2024 GV70EV and a 2024 Polestar PS2. Tesla just opened their Superchargers to Volvo & Polestar EV's, and we purchased the A2Z Typhoon Pro NACS adapter, which will work on CCS EV, that is supported by Tesla.

The NACS-CCS adapters are pass through devices and not unique to a particular vehicle. The adapter we bought for use on the Polestar will work on the GV70EV once Tesla accepts Genesis/Hyundai into their network. From what I've been able to tell, there are three recommended adapter manufacturers for use in the US, Lectron, A2Z, and the adapters manufactured by Tesla and supplied to the EV OEM's (Ford, GM, Rivian, Volvo, Polestar) for distribution to their customers. You can also go online and find other adapter manufacturers selling cheaper product, but the common recommendation for adapters are the three companies I previously mentioned.
