  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Electric GV70

I'm definitely going to get an EV and it looks increasingly like it'll be the GV70 (I was considering the GV60, but really can't deal with the absence of a rear wiper).
Different strokes for different folks. While I would have liked a rear wiper, it is not important TO ME but it obviously is to you. The first thing I did when I got to the Genesis dealership was to try putting my golf clubs in the back; if they didn't fit, I was leaving. Obviously, they did fit. But my point is that to many, fitting golf clubs in the rear is a minor issue but to me it isn't. We must all decide what are most important wants and needs are and then, only after they have been satisfied, do we move to the nice to haves.

You have the same powertrain. I have only two complaints on my GV60P: (1) the car won't let me drive with the hatch open; and (2) the tires are not grippy tires like they should be for a "performance" car. I plan, within the next several months, to solve the second issue by replacing the Michelin Primacy tires with Pilot Sport tires-- probably 4S. There is a nice one in my size that is HL rated which is better for an EV.

Update on the update...
When I went to the mapnsoft website over the weekend I saw that the upcoming System & Map Update version 18.0 has been delayed again - they're now saying it's coming in July. It must be a fairly complex update, given that it's been delayed a couple of times now. The usual timing for semi-annual map updates (for Hyundai, Kia & Genesis products) is April and October.

In an unrelated (or perhaps very related?) matter, the Genesis USA website is saying that Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay is "coming soon" on the 2025 GV70 (ICE model). I wonder if that means it will happen via an upcoming software update, and if so, will it be available/applicable for all model-year GV70s? Hmmm....
Hey all,
The new "System & Map Update version 18.0" is now available to download from the Genesis Navigation Update site for our eGV70s. Per the description at the Genesis website, by installing this extensive update our vehicles will finally be gaining wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. :)
I have downloaded the 17 GB of software to my USB flash drive and plan to install the update into my eGV70 tomorrow (9/14). Will post again after the update is complete and I've checked everything out.

I just installed the update today. Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay are now activated. And it's 100% full screen too, meaning the widget that used to occupy the far right section of the screen while using AA is gone altogether.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The software version I installed is JK1.CAN.P6.001.008.240722.

Now that the car has wireless Android Auto, I guess I'll turn the wireless charging pad back on.

Hello fellow GV70 electrified owners. I have owned my car since May 2023 and it has been flawless over 32,000 kms. However last week the ICCU failed. I heard a popping noise under the back seat and immediately got a "Check electric vehicle system" warning - which was followed by buzzing noises and additional warnings to pull over immediately. Had to have the vehicle flat-bedded to the Genesis dealership and they confirmed the ICCU failure - despite the fact that I had the ICCU software recall done a few months ago. The car is not driveable and has been sitting at the dealership for a week. A new ICCU is on order but they could not give me an ETA when it would arrive. Have any of you experienced this, if so, how long did it take to get the ICCU replaced - particularly if you're in Canada? They did give me a gas G80 as a loaner which is nice but I miss my car!

My ICCU is still working but I had a message warning of electrical system malfunction a few times right after starting the car. It did vanish before I had time to take a picture of it. I stopped the car, restarted, and it was gone. This may have happened maybe four times so far. There is no trace of it in maintenance error messages. Hopefully it won't end up like yours did but I guess the odds are 50/50...🙄

I hope your car gets fixed soon enough!

Quick question for those of you living in colder climates. How many are using proper winter tires with your eGV70? I drove around in Vancouver with the stock Michelins through the previous two winters on my various Genesis vehicles without any problems at all, but everyone tells me winters in Alberta are quite a different matter.

I think in Alberta winters will be a must. I got a set of wheels with Michelins from the dealership and am very happy with those (Always beats having to swap tires on existing wheels and protects those fantastic 20 inchers from salt and pothole damage). They had a choice between 18 and 19 inchers, didn't bother with 3rd party options, although 19's looked better, I went for 18's because the potholes are really bad here and that extra inch of rubber can be a lifesaver to prevent wheel damage.

Also, I figured the lower weight and smaller diameter might improve autonomy, even by a small percentage, I'd take anything to counter the cold weather penalty (Which is likely worse in Alberta than Québec).

Thanks! I do have some lingering doubts as to whether I should even bother driving the eGV70 very much in the winter especially if it's -30⁰ outside. Just getting an ICE beater might very well be the simpler solution as I am driving between Calgary and Edmonton a fair bit. The Santa Cruz looks quite interesting.

I was curious and took a look on Chargehub, Calgary and Edmonton are 300km apart, but right in the middle there's Red Deer, which has 6 150KW stations at a Save on Foods. There's also chargers at other locations (Canadian Tire, GM dealership), as well as in other cities along that route. I'm pretty sure the GV70 could do a 150km stretch on a full charge, even in very cold weather, and a set of wheels would be cheaper than a beater, but that said, the Santa Cruz looks fun for a beater! 😉

Now I'm starting to wonder if you're my wife disguised as another forum member, always trying to talk me out of getting another car. (Just kidding!)

"And I told you to get rid of that beige underwear!" 🤣

Kidding aside, you could also go one size up (Although different brand, but we're talking about having fun here) with a Raptor Ranger...! 😉

I installed the update yesterday and wireless Android Auto works great, better than with the dongle which was just an extension of the wired connection and didn't go full screen. I'll still keep the dongle in a drawer somewhere, just in case I need it someday on another vehicle (Not intent on changing anytime soon, but could be a loaner or whatnot), until I completely forget it exists along all the other tech crap it's buried with...

The absence of a rear wiper doesn't bother me but, then again, I live in Arizona. Very, very occasionally some things fall from the sky. I am not sure what the falling things are but apparently they are what the wiper is for.

So I am able to love my gV60P.

As another aside: I have a 6'11" buddy who bought a new truck in his retirement and needed to be able to share his wife's vehicle. His car had been a BMW X4 and hers was a Lexus NX. He fitted in the X4 and he tried my GV60 and said he fitted very comfortably. But they had to get rid of the Lexus and his wife had to inherit the X4 (now a new X3) because he couldn't fit in the Lexus. The interior space of the GV60 is immense.

It's a shame that they don't offer a rear wiper in the GV60 and thereby turn off potential buyers such as yourself.

After having bought 6 Genesis SUVs in the past 2-3 years, I'm not likely to buy another Genesis for a while. I will probably regret saying that though as the GV80 Coupe is growing on me. It also doesn't have a rear wiper but it does have the rear view camera. Only thing stopping me getting one is that it's still a gas guzzler without having quite enough power/speed to make up for it's thirst. The new CLE53 AMG (in matte grey) is looking pretty tempting actually.

I have a 2025 CLE53 on order - it will hopefully arrive early next year....I gave up waiting for official word on the CLE63
Awesome! What color are you getting?

Is that in addition to your Electrified GV70? The power trains and weight to horsepower are very similar to the Electrified GV70 (assuming you have the performance power train both are around 10 pounds per HP). Obviously a low sedan will handle the twisties way, way better than an SUV, even a relatively low SUV like the GV60P. But aside from that, I would love to see your thoughts on driving one vs the other (and I would still like your thoughts on driving the twisties).

Yes - it will be in addition to my eGV70. I am replacing my '21 Audi RS5 coupe. I wish my RS5 had the eGV70 powertrain !!

MANUFAKTUR Graphite Grey Magno (matte) with Power Red Nappa AMG Performance seats
Sweet! That's the colour I'm interested in as well. I used to have a C63 back when it was still the 6.2L V8, but I'm excited for the CLE53. Need to make an appointment with the Mercedes dealer here.
