It's gotten pretty cold in my neck of the woods and I've noticed a problem with my remote climate start through the Genesis app. The problem is...it doesn't work anymore. It used to work, but gradually I've gotten more and more failures until recently when it seems to never work at all. It doesn't matter whether I use the presets or start without presets.
Here's the kicker: the app tells me "climate start was successful." If I check the vehicle status in the app, it says climate on. But if I re-check one minute later, vehicle status says its off again. Then, when I arrive at my car, nothing is running, it obviously has never been on, and no heating of any kind has occurred. Additionally, after attempting and failing to use the app to pre-heat, I swear the car doesn't heat as well as usual and I've even noticed a rattling noise coming from under the hood, almost like the failed climate start messed up the heat pump.
For the record, remote start via my key fob seems to work just fine (but it doesn't start my heated seat or steering wheel, argh!). I've done a reset of the head unit. I've deleted and reloaded the app. The problem persists. I can't remember if it started after a software update, but it does seem some of you are an update ahead of me (I've got wireless Android Auto, but that was the last update I've received). I have not gone in for the most recent ICCU recall yet.
So, here are my questions:
Has anyone else noticed this problem?
Is there any chance it could be related to a weak 12 volt battery (I've noticed the orange dash light on quite frequently lately)?
Am I just an idiot and imagining everything except for the failed remote climate starts?
Suggestions and questions are welcome.
