If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hey genesis owners,
I was wondering if anyone has done a fluid change for the 3.8l 2011 genesis sedan which uses the aisin b600 transmiton(the 6 speed not the 8 from newer years). What should i look for while doing the change and should i follow the drain and refill procedure or should i do a full flush. And perhaps if anyone onows what exact fluid specs the transmitoj requires.

Have you found out any solid info outside of this forum? I have a 2011 3.8 also and am trying to do some research.

Here is the results on transmission fluid search: Search results for query: transmission fluid
I have a 2010 Genesis V6 with the Aisin 6 speed transmission. I wouldn't change it for the 8 speed, as I believe the later tranmissions were tuned for better gas mileage, and not for perfomance. The 6 speed has an immediacy of response that is lacking in the 8 speeds I drove when I thought I would "trade up" to a newer Genesis sedan.

Oh, I have been changing the transmission fluid, every 50,000 miles, all done at the dealer. Last change was at 150K miles. I have 166K on my car now, and have spent $3000 on repairs in 12.5 years. My transmission has been flawless, and since it is made by Toyota, I expect it to remain flawless. I was discouraged to hear of the hard shifting problems that others have suffered with the 8 speeds, and the transmission failures.

I was convinced by an independent mechanic NOT to believe the "lifetime" nature of transmission fluid. There has been no catastrophe associated with transmission fluid changes, in my case.

The inferior gas mileage has been more than counterbalanced by the superiority of the performance I have noted. Just now, i have had regulator failures of both the driver and driver side passenger doors (the window fell into the door on the rear side, and the driver window is sticking intermittently). I will repair both, and the sticking door locks that were never fixed right under warranty. I am not ready to give up this car, but I think I am about to double my maintenance costs.

My experience will not necessarily be reproduced by others, but I hope was worth sharing.

Tengo un hyundai genesis sedan 3.3 2010 mpi qué tipo de fluido es bueno para mi caja de cambios y cuantos litros son?

Translation: I have a hyundai genesis sedan 3.3 2010 mpi what type of fluid is good for my gearbox and how many liters is it?

As for changing interval, manual says inspect periodicly, doesn't specify period to change. Dealer didn't change it for me when I requested (at 107k miles) , said no need to fluid change unless there is problem.

Curious what mpg are you referring to when saying “inferior gas mileage”? I have a 6/08 produced 2009 3.8L Genesis that I just drove from Omaha to Denver round trip 1100 miles and Averaged 29.5mpg on the Interstate at 85mph and the AC running as temp during drive was 82 to 93 degrees. I typically get 19mpg in city driving. The amazing thing is that I have 141k on my Genesis and my window sticker read 18mpg city & 27mpg highway!
The only problem I’ve had with this car was at 27k the throttle control module failed and was covered by Warranty. Regular maintenance: oil / filter change every 5k, tires, BOTH trans fluid change and rear differential fluid at 80k & 140k, spark plugs at 100k, replaced battery twice, replaced front inner & outer tie bars, replaced front struts & rear shocks, replaced serpentine belt 140k.
This car drives & handle LIKE NEW!
I have done all the maintenance myself except for the throttle control module & the shock and struts. I have no idea how long I’ll continue to drive this car but it’ll be “awhile”. Here in Nebraska it costs me $54 annually to License & Register this car. A new car would require 7% tax on the purchase price and about $2,850 License & Registration Yr 1…..90% of that Yr 2 etc.
JOKE……I can’t afford to be separated from this car!!

Hi, I recently bought a 2011 Genesis V6 sedan with the Aisin 6sp transmission from my father. It has 148k miles and I found out that he never had the fluid changed. At this point I feel a simple drain and fill is probably safest, would any recommend this? I don't think i can do it myself- would it be safe to have this done at any shop that does drain and fills? The dealer wants $400 to do a flush.

Check out YouTube for your vehicle specific trans fluid changes.

Thanks, but for a 2011 at 148k miles if it has never been changed, should I do a drain and fill or leave it alone at this point?
I would do a drain and fill. Possibly again in several thousand miles because the drain doesn't remove all of the fluid. The new fluid will mix with the original remaining fluid.

Yes. Drain and fill is the best solution at this point. Flush - NO not at that mileage.
Some that DRAIN AND FILL will disconnect the line to the trans cooler and empty out a quart into a graduated container by starting the engine. Then measure the amount removed. Replace that amount with new fluid. Repeat the process until the fluid cleans up. This is the OUT with the OLD and IN with the NEW technique and very little dilution happens. YouTube videos show the details before you plan to do this yourself.

I plan to replace my fluid at 50,000 miles.
