  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Please consider taking a break

The curmudgeon modus operandi is about as laughable as the lack of practice knowledge of this platform.

Have a nice day.
Can stand to give up, eh. Need to resort to personal attacks.

You turned off the take a break warning or lane keep assist?
Both. I'm perfectly capable of driving my own car. Been doin it for nearly 60 years. :)

"Take a break" cannot be turned off.

Hundreds of computer driving your car?! Nope. [...] Take the "drive-by-wire" throttle system. This is a typical servo system that strictly follows the driver's input command at the accelerator pedal and actuates the throttle body accordingly. While the mapping is not be 100% linear and will vary depending on the driving mode you set, the "computer" strictly follows what it was programming to output per the driver command. Only a layperson - or an idiot - would construe that as "computers driving your car".

If you were engaged in a forward collision avoidance event - a computer would simultaneously interrupt the throttle servo system (making it unresponsive) while applying the brakes and another computer would be monitoring the speed sensors on each wheel and engaging the ABS system as necessary. Reduced down - this would widely be considered as "computers driving your car" to an understandable degree.

Just back from a round trip from LA to NC to SC & then home in the GV80 Coupe. The take a break thing is a nuisance! Gotta laugh though, one of the last times it went off was when we had just left a truck stop for gas and coffee and I was taking a sip when it popped up! Its a real drag though that I cant even look at the radio stations and fumble on the screen or mess with the AC controls without it going off.....

That’s got to be able to be broken. I have had mine go off only twice in 5k miles, several 5 hour trips

Well, i cant say that - thats for sure. Wifes car and its happened to her too. Shes convinced that its “disabled” when she uses lane keep assist and the thingy that keeps the car centered - sorry - forgot what its called. Wither way, its a PITA and i have 0 faith if it is busted that any dealer would give it the time of day.

You are likely drifting around in your lane when you are messing with the radio (remember you can use the steering wheel controls and HUD to manage) and climate or looking at your coffee when bringing it up. That being said - "fumbling on the screens"... not really something to be doing while driving. Easily results in bouncing around the lane - or beyond. I have observed many, many people who when they are reaching across to turn knobs and buttons, or to manipulate something in the seat next to them - they inadvertently also pull or push just a tad on the wheel. Especially at highway speed - even the slightest degree of input on the wheel does have a notable direction change. A few of those in too short of a period of time is going to trigger a car which monitors such things vs. where the car is on the road.

I know everyone hates it - I do too... but I will say that it forces me to be a better and more conscious driver.

I prefer to use the screens and knobs provided. If they don’t want people to be able to use them without getting a warning - remove them.

Fumbling - apologies - slang. I was using the knobs, buttons , provided.

Think it’s too sensitive…..

I don’t need more training - I’m already a good driver.

Driver attention warning can be, and is, turned off in my 2109 G70. But whatever....

Of course but it not about being good. It’s about being better.
Im not that vain....

Ok. Whatever. But I still dont need a computer to tell me when to take a break. I got that part figured out years ago. It aint that complicated.

If I wanted a self driving car, id Waymo everywhere.

Do you remember how you did it? I can’t find any way to do it in my 2025 and the manual does not address it.

So you searched google, but didnt find anything or just unwillimg to share? I have searched and found no way to disable feature. What did you find? After all, one point of the board is to share & learn from one and other

EDIT: APOLOGIES, didnt realize your reply was a link…..

Thanks for taking the time to post that Google search link!

It seems that the menu options are different in the 2025 G70. You can turn off the audible driver attention warning but that automatically turns on the haptic (steering wheel vibration) driver attention warning. You can’t turn both off. 😩

Thanks again!
