  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

All,

I thought it would be useful to have a dedicated thread for folks to post their updates.

Curious if anyone has received an email today since they are scheduled to start as of today. Nothing on my end.

Not yet!

Got my hopes up with the thread title! But I'm also looking for this info, will be watching the thread closely, thanks for starting it

I sent a message to Genesis Concierge service Tuesday asking about status of NACS adapters. No reply yet
As of 4/9 9:45am I have not received an email re NACS adaptor.

I'm sure Genesis will wait until the last possible moment to begin sending emails.

Here’s the latest info
Note it’s now the end of April befor we can expect news.
Additional information on eligibility, instructions, and when you can request your complimentary NACS adapter will be released by the end of April 2025.

Where did you get that information?

As far as I know, not a single manufacturer has been timely in getting out NACS adapters, so I'm not surprised that Genesis isn't either. That's why I bought an A2Z adapter - and I did save some money by using a Tom Moloughney 15% off coupon (no longer available, but I think 10% coupons can be found). I've already used it twice, and will probably use it multiple times in the next couple of weeks since I'm going on a couple of longish road trips. I wouldn't be surprised if I've run a couple hundred Kwh through my A2Z adapter before I actually receive the free one. Also, I've noticed that several YouTubers prefer the A2Z adapter to the official adapters they have received. I still definitely want the free one - it's always good to have spares. But I have no regrets about making the investment in the A2Z to maximize the utility of the $60k investment I made in the GV60 over the next few months.

I just checked the A2Z website. They currently offer a 10% discount. However I think they increased the price (Tariffs?) to $170.00 U.S. Last December I was on their website and they were having a "Boxing Day" sale and I believe the adapter was on sale for $135.00. I'm thinking I should have just bought it last December. At the current price I think I will hold off for the free one from Genesis or buy the A2Z should it go on sale again.

Genesis Canada has been absolutely silent on this topic. I hope that they are similarly working toward an end of April distribution.

If it were me, I wouldn't bother with anything not OEM certified because if anything happens, heaven forbid, you potentially face Genesis denying warranty coverage. If I were going to buy anything, I'd buy the Ford co-designed and OEM certified Lectron adapter. It is way better than the one Lectron sells standalone and Ford sells them on their website for $200.

I thought about that but I also read and watched a lot or reviews about 3rd party charges and adapters. A well known YouTuber is "State of Charge" All he does is test all of the different Mfg. chargers, and aftermarket adapters. He has reviewed Lectron and A2Z etc.. He also has one video in which he states there could be a problem wit et OEM adapter from Hyundai. I would like the one from Genesis, however we really don't know how long it will take for us to actually receive one.

I gave up waiting on Hyundai (considering their track record) and ordered an adapter from TeslaTap. It’s more expensive than the other options but seems to be well made.

I never saw it anywhere near that price. I bought it with a 15% discount last November at it was about $160.

Yes, that is the Tom Molougney that I mentioned, I used his 15% discount coupon (now expired).

The potential problem would only occur if you used that adapter with a 400v car, which could cause higher amperage to be drawn. The GV60 (and all the other EGMP vehicles) is limited to 97kW, which is about 243 amps. That's way below the Hyundai OEM adapter's 350 amp limit. But suppose you have a 400v car that can pull 180kw from the charger - that would be 450 amps, way over the limit of the Hyundai/Kia (and presumably Genesis) adapter that has been reported. In other words, the Hyundai adapter is designed only for Hyundai cars, and Molougney is concerned that some of these adapters will wind up changing hands and being used with other, non Hyundai vehicles. After all, the plug will physically fit these other cars. All of the other adapters - Tesla, Lectron, A2Z etc. have a 500 amp limit. It's hard to believe Hyundai is saving much money by limiting it to 350 amps, so this does seem like an unfortunate design decision on Hyundai's part.

FWIW, the two times I used the A2Z adapter it remained cool to the touch the whole time. I have seen videos by Patrick Anderson (Mach-E Vlog) where the free adapter he got from Ford got too hot to touch - he resorted to carrying a towel so he could safely remove the adapter. So I'm not sure I'm convinced that OEM necessarily means better.
and ordered an adapter from TeslaTap.
That's the first I've heard of TeslaTap producing a DCFS adapter. It certainly looks well made in the pictures, for whatever that's worth. I think they have a reputation for their AC adapter of being very well made but expensive. I hope you'll report back on your experience with the TeslaTap.
