If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Genesis Free NACS Adapter Thread: Post Your Updates

What's the dateline on that article? Sounds like NEVI, now halted by Trump.
Yes, I thought Trump killed that program as well, because it was to also build more, non-Tesla charging stations, which kinda helps….

What do we need to do for this, install an app? Create an account of some kind? Store a payment method with someone? Need to know for a long-distance trip next week :)
It's very easy. Download the TESLA app on your phone. Add your vehicle details on the app., click "YES" on the question asking if you have a NACS DC Adapter (i.e. the free one that Genesis claim they will send to each of us or a 3rd party one from A2Z , Lectron etc.), enter in your credit card information. Once your vehicle information has been entered then when you go back to the main screen of the app. and click "Find a Charger" it will populate with a map and locations that are available. You mentioned you are going on a trip. I assume you will have your 3rd party adapter by then? Also remember when you use TESLA chargers you need to be very mindful of pulling into each stall as our charge port is on the opposite side of a TESLA vehicle and the Fast Charge cord is very short in length vs. the ones at EA stations. You may want to do a test run at one of your local TESLA chargers to make sure you don't have any issues charging and are comfortable with the process before you leave on your long trip. Have a nice trip and let us know how it works out.

Great. I have an A2Z on order. Now just need to make a Tesla account and enter the info. Good idea to try a local quick stop first though. Lots of Tesla spots at the local mall. I take it two people can share an account on different phones as long as the email address is the same one.

I’d also suggest planning the round-trip route with ABRP to see which chargers it selects, as the suggested stops may not (probably won’t be) where you expect…

I’ve planned it using just Electrify America chargers with ABRP, and indeed, it has us stopping somewhere we usually just drive by. Should be an experience. Will likely make the trip an hour longer than usual though.

Extra total travel time is inevitable anytime you exceed an EV’s range. The trick is to minimize that extra time and that’s what ABRP does so well.

Motor Trend recently reported on driving an Ioniq6 from Seattle to LA, and the reporter charged to 100% multiple times, nearly doubling the total charging time that should have been needed… 🙄.

It’s stunning to me how little even auto journalists understand about EVs…

Good luck and enjoy the trip!

To add to this, because most available Tesla stations have cables too short to charge the GV60 (newer V4 stations are slowly rolling out) you will likely have to block two spaces to charge. This is probably not going to be met positively if you are at a crowded station.

Remember to remind folks that if they have a problem they should blame Elon Musk, not you, for opening charging to vehicles that have to block two chargers. 🙂

Good point about the V 4 chargers. They have longer cables that will allow us to park in any Tesla charger spot w/o taking up more than one space. Around my house there are V3 chargers and I have no idea when and if they will be upgraded to V4. A2Z is developing a Tesla extension cable for DC fast charging of cars like ours. A prototype was tested by the YouTuber "State of Charge." This will allow us to park in any Tesla V3 station without taking up 2 spots.

And to blame his partner, VP Trump, for killing the $5b national charging station plan which was in the works? Lol

I literally printed the Tesla guide for third party charging at superchargers, and would they suggest to do in terms of parking... It is in my glove box ready to pull out, should - once I have the adapter - I get any pushback

I am extremely weary of cable extensions. Supercharger cables are cooled and there is now way for the extension cables to be. I will wait on that and make sure there is a lot of safety data on that one.

Since our vehicles are limited to 97kw, I think the extension cable will be fine. I plan on getting one as soon as they are available.

Remember, it's not just that the GV60 will take up two spots at a v3 station, possibly annoying other drivers. More importantly, YOU won't be able to charge AT ALL unless two consecutive spots are available. At many Tesla stations around here you might wait quite a while for 2 consecutive spots to open up. Maybe just go to an EA station instead.

Here's a handy tip - in the Tesla app, look for stations that say 325kw (instead of 250kw). That's an easy way to tell that a station has v4 dispensers with the longer cables, so that only one spot is needed. Even though there are many more stations with v3 dispensers than v4, there are still more Tesla v4 stations than there are EA stations, at least here in California. That said, I've managed to make my two most recent road trips using only EA stations - one trip from LA to Vegas and back, and another from LA to the Monterey area and back. But it definitely reduced my stress level knowing that I had the option to use Telsa stations if necessary.

On my recent trip I made an overnight stop in San Luis Obispo, and made sure to stay at a hotel with 9 Tesla destination chargers. These chargers are not free (you have to use the Tesla app to pay), but they do include the adapter for J1772 so I didn't need the one on my trunk. About an hour before arriving I checked the Tesla app and confirmed that 8 of 9 were available - perfect, or so I thought. When I arrived I found out that all but one was ICE'd!!! I was very fortunate that there was one available. I can't really blame the drivers, because there wasn't even a sign that said parking was for EV charging only. I don't think that ICE drivers should be required to recognize what a Tesla wall charger is. I complained to the hotel about it when I left -- what is the point of having EV chargers if they aren't going to be available?? By the way, the reason why the Tesla app didn't say that 9 of 9 were available was because one of the chargers didn't have the plug properly docked in the unit - in fact it couldn't be docked because someone had made off with the J1772 adapter. So the Tesla app thought it was in use. Not sure if I'll stay in that hotel again, or if I do, make sure I get there early before all the stalls are ICEd. It sure was nice to leave in the morning with 100%, which allowed me to complete my trip without having to stop at a fast charger.

Internal Combustion Engine’d. Gas powered vehicle blocking an Ev charge spot.
Oh, ok, that's what I thought you meant, but didn't realize they could block an EV spot. Isn't that like parking in a handicapped spot?

Isn't that like parking in a handicapped spot?
It would be nice if that was the case, but no, there is generally no legal penalty. And in this case, there weren't even any markings saying "EV Charging Only" or anything like that. Neither a sign nor any marking on the pavement. Why bother installing chargers if you're not going to mark the spots?

Using extension cables is a bad idea for a number of reasons and Tesla engineers agree. For me, messing around with this is a bridge too far for a network I plan to use as a backup but if you do end up getting the a2z cable, I look forward to hearing about your experience.

I just looked on the site for North America (US) its listed under their "Up Coming Products" for $294 (U.S.). It also states "Out of Stock" and Coming Soon." I'm not so sure they have sold any of these in the U.S.. The last I heard was that they were still in the prototype stages. Once it is released I will await online reviews. There is a good change the "State of Charge" You Tuber will have an updated review as he did test one of their prototypes.

.13kw at home, in Ca.? Edison? Our SDGE rate is .22kw minimum, between 12am and 6am I believe. .13 is cheap
We get 9 cents a KWH any time of day here in North Georgia. Consider myself lucky.

2 cents/kWh in metro Atlanta overnight on the EV rate plan. There are a few cents/kWh in additional fees, but still a great deal.
