  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What problems are you having?
On my G80, I was getting trunk ajar warnings when it was closed. Adjusting the bump-stops resolved that. Recently, it would sometime reclose after it opened about a foot. I fixed that by replacing the trunk lid air struts.

The power trunk only opens halfway, and then most of the time only closes halfway. They changed the struts already.

Assuming the initialization procedure is the same...
Slowly push the trunk lid to the fully open position.
Press and hold the outer trunk open switch at the same time as the close switch on the inside of the trunk lid.
After about three seconds a warning will sound. Release both switches at the same time.
Slowly push the trunk lid closed all the way.
Press the outside open switch.
The trunk should open all the way and a warning sound. Initialization should be complete.

Maybe this will help.

I went on a 6+ month adventure with the power trunk on my 2020. I had a similar issue as described. The trunk would open anywhere from 6 inches to halfway. Warning beep and lights would flash. Multiple presses of the open button would cause the trunk to open a little more until it was completely opened. Closing was smooth and never halted.

I replaced the fuse in the trunk. Dealer first replaced the latch, then the opening motor. None of these fixes helped. The issue turned out to be a stressed wire that likely started to fail due to the number of times the trunk was opened (multiple times each day). I was told there were other Kia/Hyundai products experiencing a similar issue, but no Genesis vehicles were part of the impacted list at that time.
