  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2019 3.3T here, and I just started getting the dreaded oil pressure light at idle at 70k miles. Oil level is fine, and I am fairly sure it is just the sensor as the car is running like new, and I also read the extensive posts on the Stinger forums about this. I do want to check the pressure just in case.

I am wondering if anyone has gotten Genesis to fix this under the powertrain warranty? It seems so annoying that there is a warranty extension for this very issue for this engine on some Kia's, but nothing for the G70/Stinger. I have had very bad experiences with all Genesis dealers in this area, so I know already what the outcome will be - they will charge $200 for the diagnostic and deny coverage. Should I just go to an independent shop, keep driving, or fight with the dealer/corporate on this?

I would also add, that I likely will not buy Genesis product again, mainly due to the atrocious dealer treatment from the very start.

Fight it. Your powertrain warranty is 10yr/100k miles and this is a known defect. Don't let the dealer tell you otherwise.

Call Genesis Corporate directly if the dealer refuses. Quote the warranty extension for the Kia models with the same engine. Be persistent; they should cover the sensor under warranty. Don't pay the diagnostic fee.

Thank you, I guess it is worth trying. I have battled the dealer for sunroof issues, recall service, and loaner cars for warranty work. Every single thing with them has been like pulling teeth, every interaction very negative. And unfortunately this is the dealer that was selected as the only "Stand alone" dedicated genesis dealer in the area. A complete joke, and definitely the number one reason I will not get a Genesis in the future. I can put up with some issues with the otherwise good car, but going to the dealer is a degrading experience.

Unfortunately, Genesis/Hyundai has made it clear that the powertrain warranty does not cover any sensors external to the engine and transmission.

Explicitly yes the powertrain does not cover it. But it is ridiculous that they have a warranty extension for precisely this problem on this engine for some cars, but not Stinger/G70. I know this will escalate to corporate, but I still have some hope there is some goodwill from this company. Not betting on it obviously.

Did not realize.

Agree completely. Genesis as a brand is going to fail based on dealer experiences like this. Been there, done that (Genesis vs BMW), will likely get a BMW of some sort in the future.

There are also many badly managed BMW, Audi dealers. I've experienced both. It's amazing how short sighted some dealer managers/owners can be, saving a few dollars but losing customers. Unfortunately it can be difficult to get real insight into a particular dealers management style until problems arise.

That is true. It does seem to me an established brand like BMW can better tolerate the occasional substandard dealer than a new one like Genesis.

If Lexus hadn’t enforced a very high dealer standard from day one, they would have likely failed.
