  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Whatsup Genesis crew! I'm looking to get a genesis by trading in my bmw z4 M Coupe by june(which is when the warranty runs out). Ideally I'd just want a straight trade with a 4.6, without paying more than 2k in addition so getting a 2011 is pretty much out of the question. Now that 3 generations are out I just wanted your opinion on whether I should definitely seek a 2010 over a 2009(I heard you should usually avoid first gen cars) or if the 2009 genesis is an anomaly and is a fine choice or if I should really consider a 2011. Also, I've been to the hyundai tri state dealer website and went through 6 or 7 of the dealer websites looking for a used '09,'10 black 4.6 genesis with black interior and none are in stock. This is probably a retarded question but is there a way to just contact one source and tell them to let me know if any of the tri-state dealers come up with one for my price range or do I have to check all 30-40 websites weekly? Also any other suggestions on how to acquire an 09-10 genesis through trade-in would be helpful. Thanks Guys!!!

Wait til June and get a look at the 2012. 5.0L V8 and speed trans. and many more updates. 0-60 will more than likely be under 5 sec. More money I know but a lot more car. Otherwise go for the 2011 due to adaptive cruise, 385hp v8 with ZF 6 speed transmission. 0-60 in about 5.3 seec.

Z4M coupe?? Why are you trying to get rid of such a beautiful car? It's almost an instant classic.
I beat myself for not taking the deal back when BMW was offering trunk cash.
If I were you, I'd keep the M coupe.

Dan

I hate both of you... lol. ughhhhh

:D
No, I hate YOU... for owning such a rare beauty.
LOVE the S54 engine.
Seriously, don't sell your Z4M. You'll thank me later.

Dan

homeofstone, after owning my z4m I realized i don't really need anything faster than 6s in a 0-60(though 5.3 is pretty OMG!). Adaptive control is something I really am excited about, but since I haven't tried it yet I'm not missing anything(ignorance is bliss). If money was no object it would be a no brainer with the 2012

nearwater, I LOVE my car. When i first got my car it was the only sub 100k car that I liked aesthetically(I'm extremely picky). Even now when I wash my car and my hands go through the curves...jeeZUS. But, I want something more practical and I'm not sure what problems will occur after the warranty runs out, even tho this car has been literally problem free. You have definitely made me hesistate on trading it in though. I dunno mannnn. If I do trade it in, I WILL buy another one down the road.

Sounds like you 2 should trade.

I have the 2010 4.6 w/Tech...adaptive cruise etc. Love this car....used to drive Porsche 928s , you will not regret the 2010. I drove the 2009 and intentionally bought the 2009....ride feels different to me. Also like the 4.6 ride over the 3.8

Good move, being a BMW owner myself I can agree with the old saying to never keep a BMW past its warranty. Yours is a pretty sweet piece and you should be able to sell it outright easily. It is always better to buy a car on a straight deal rather than a trade because it is too easy for the dealer to build extra profit into the numbers. There are plenty of good deals out there if you are willing to look. Also look at the Hyundai circle program. I bought mine that way and with the rebates in effect at the time it was better to buy new than used.

Thanks for the tips! Right now I'm leaning towards homeofstone's recommendation of waiting for the 2012 now that I'm reading threads about it and also noticing that $ difference between new and used is not much at all.

I missed putting in the "8" regarding the 2012 8 speed transmission. I too have a BMW and have had it for about 8 years now. My BMW is a 1999 Z3 with the 2.8 and now has about 220,000 miles on it. My Z3 has been an excellent car, only had to replace one position sensor for a cost of 140.00 and thats it other than oil, filters, tires, brake pads and wiper blades. I love driving my Z3 and may keep it until it totally dies. I hope that our 4.6 Geneis turns out to be a great car too. So far with about 12000 miles on our 2011 Genesis we still love it. The 4.6 V8 is great with larger 4 piston front brakes, extra chrome trim on doors, better headlights, larger rims and tires and I think a better transmission. Good luck with your future shopping.

I come from a long past of many cars with perfomance all the way back to the days of a 69 Chevy SS built to to haul the mail, dual 4s 396 punched 4speed. I now have the 2011 4.6 just got it Saturday. 39k out the door with 10 / 120k bumper to bumper upgrade. just bite the bullet and get it. You will not ever need the little extra with the .4 liters. I looked at A8's all the way down and you cant get more car for the money.
