  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Bought a 3,8 2009 sedan, tech pce, platinum/saddle and it's on its way from the Usa to the Netherlands where I live. Am driving an Azera, called "Grandeur" in Europe. Only +/- 70 sold in Holland (17 milj. inhabitans) so it is not for sale any longer. By the end of the year it is said that 999 coupe's will come to Europe (this figure is to avoid total modification to European regulations). The sedan will not come to Europe, so I had to buy this remarkable and more than beautiful car in the States. Will have to deal with some promblems though. F. e. radio and navigation, so I think I will need some help from you guys at the other side of "the big pond". Since there are no dealers in Europe selling Genesis, they don't sell Genesis gadgets either. Would like to buy the genesis wallet and key case (diecast model is on its way from Korea). I found these things on the pinostudiosite but you have to buy large quantaties so that is no option. Can somebody give me an address in the States where I can buy these things? Alvast bedankt! (thanks in Dutch)

Welkom to the site and congratulations on your soon to be new Genesis.

I think you are going to have a problem with both the GPS Navigation and also the Radio. I think you should have investigated more, before you purchased and imported to Europe.

The big problem is that the Genesis will not come to Europe. So,,,, in addition to getting things fixed, like engine or transmission, or any other mechanical things,,,,

1. The GPS Navigational system is not set up with European Maps in your Tech Pkg. There is no way to get the European Maps in your hard drive. Matter of fact, we in the USA had a very difficult time getting an update to our Tech hard drive on our 09's. So,,,, as I see it, you will have to use a dash mounted aftermarket GPS with European maps.

2. As someone who goes to France, Italy and once in a while Belgium every few years, I've learned that the frequency selection on the FM bands is different in Europe than in the US and Canada. In the US and Canada, the FM frequencies always end in an odd number. I.E. 98.1, 98.3, 98.5, 98.7, 98.9, 99.1, etc. In Europe, the FM frequencies can end in any number. I.E. 98.0, 98.1, 98.2, etc. You will be lucky to find a station that transmits on one of your receiver frequencies. You can't "tune" (or tweek) the receiver with a dial like we used to do back in the old days.
Your AM frequencies are the same as ours, (I think) but there are no longer many AM stations (also knows in Europe as MW) that transmit in Europe. You may get lucky.
Lastly, in Europe, there are LW stations, but our radios can't pick up LW.

BTW, you may want to check if the Genesis is sold in Germany, or even other EU Countries as you may be able to work something out.

Other than the above, enjoy your Genesis.

Thanks Bob for your remarks. Italy is importer of hyundai for the whole of Europe, they were sure sedan won't come to Europe. Radiofrequecyproblem was know, am lucky, 80%
I listen to are odd frequency's. Concerning navigation I have 2 options: A wizzkid has the specs and told me that for 90% sure he can modify the navigationsystem. If not I have to wait for the coupe coming to Europe and buy that navigationsystem. Conversion from mile to Km and Fahrenheit to Celsius is a piece of cake. My Azera has power fold away mirrors, the Genesis has not in the Usa, but they have in Korea, is it forbidden in the States? I hope wiring is already in my car so I only have to install servo's and a switch. Can't wait to get the car here.

Thanks again Bob,

A happy genesisdriver to be!

Lokkertsen,
Just reading through old posts since I recently purchased an '09 Gen sedan. I was wondering if you had been having any luck with getting your navigation and such converted over to meet your European needs. Also something I am interested in as well is the power folding mirrors. Have you been able to modify yours yet or no? Best of luck to you.

Sorry for my late reply, navigation works, radio only uses odd numbers, but that is no problem here, transmitters are very powerfull, m to km, F to C degrees is done aswell. Power mirrors is possible but I found that to expensive.

greetings.

@lokkertsen If you need some accessories or parts for your gen, you can buy them from Ukraine. Gen sedan is regularly sold there.

When your friend "remapped" the navigation, did you still have access to the US maps?
