  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm embarrassed to say how long it had been, but my air filter was so dirty it was vile. There was a very noticeable power bump.

did you change it to the stock one or another brand? I was looking at the K&N air filter for my car, but K&N has the listing for pricing, but no they dont have any in stock. I can't order it for my car yet.

I changed just changed mine with a K&N ([ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002N10NCO"]Amazon[/ame] has them BTW), and was surprised at how filthy it was after only about 10k. I still need to get the vacuum out there to get all of the acorns out of the box...

I just went with stock, but I'm sure if I'd gone aftermarket I could done better.

Car before last was a 3.5 Altima that I'd done a bunch of mods to (exhaust, headers, intake). In the end, I wished I'd left it all stock. I mean it was fast and all that, but the noise etc was something I just didn't care for.

My last two cars I've kept stock. If I had a Mustang or something, I'd be all over the mods :-).

did u get better gas mileage out of it?

Yes to both (the new OEM engine air filter for my Genesis as well as the cold-air filter I added to my Altima).

there should be zero effect on gas mileage. car is fuel injected not carbureted. look it up been proven over and over fuel injected cars just inject less fuel when there's an air restriction. performance yes, mileage no.
