  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am seriously considering purchasing an R-Spec Genesis shortly. Previously I test drove the Equus and was very impressed but decided that the Genny is the right size car for me. However, one of the best features in my mind that the Equus has over the Genny is the at-home 5-year service.

I am curious: has anyone ever asked their dealer if they would sell the at-home service as an option for Genesis owners? I will ask my local dealer when I go in but would love to know if anyone else has already done so.

Cheers,
Newman

You mean pick up and drop off service? Or the 5 years of no charge service and parts?

Great question. I meant both, but I can imagine selling them separately as well.

I am interested in the convenience and higher-class of service that the Equus offers but the Genesis is a better fit for my life-style. I would definitely be interested in paying for the pick-up/drop-off service and would also consider the pre-paid 5 year service also if it was priced right.

Never hurts to ask, right?

My gut feeling is that the service package won't be offered as a Hyundai backed program for the Genesis. Far fewer Equus' (what's the plural?) are being sold than Gennys so it's probably not as much of a burden on the dealerships to do it.

Try to negotiate it as part of the sale and maybe that particular dealership will do it for you. I'll think you'll have a better chance of success if they sell the Equus at that dealership-they will be used to doing that for the Equus owners. The only drawback is if that dealership changes ownership you might be out of luck. Because of that, I don't know if I'd pay extra for it.

My dealer is selling 3 year service packages on the lower line Hyundai's, so it may never hurt to ask.

Thanks for the great feedback.

Related question: who would pay for the equus pickup service on your genesis and what would you be willing to pay?

In my case it's one oil change per year per car, unless I take some long trips and rack up the miles. I've had my Vette for 3 years, just turned 11,000 miles yesterday and according to the computer in the car, I've got 74% oil life remaining. I changed the oil last July. So next month it's off to the dealer to get it checked out. Just changed the oil on the Genesis and everything else checked out fine.
