  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Oh yeah...given the cost of the extended warranty, its definitely worth getting if you plan on keeping the car for more than three years if you get the Tech Package with the Genesis.

Normally, I wouldn't recommend extended warrantly plans, but if one gets an auto loaded w/ tech goodies (not to mention an audiphile grade sound system), then yeah, it's not a bad idea (assuming one doesn't overpay for it).

Yeah, eventually all the geezers who remember the initial Hyundai launch in the US will just die off. Maybe even Yugo can make a return to the US some day?

I'm sure there are some old geezers who think Toyotas are still cheap Japanese "tin cans."

What's impt. are the next gen of auto buyers and the kids these days are going to have a much diff. impression of Hyundai.

For those who are older and wouldn't have bought a Hyundai even 3-4 years ago, it has to do w/ doing your due diligence.

It's kinda like buying property in an "up and coming"/gentrifying neighborhood or purchasing clothing from a designer that isn't yet well known - it's being ahead of the masses (being a "leader" and not a follower).

Only people who still think that are union members.

I don't care what anyone else thinks. I love the car. It's a pleasure to drive and worth a lot more than its retail. When it's time I'll buy another one. And probably find the car is an improvement on this one. Thank's Hyundai.

I think "I don't care what anyone else thinks" is probably a motto for all Genesis owners! After all, if you care deeply about what others think you're probably going to spend that extra money for a high prestige Mercedes or BMW. If you're the type of person that basically omits the prestige factor and you just look objectively at the cars themselves, the Genesis ends up looking mighty appealing.

Let's not get completely carried away here. After all, just about everyone is replacing their Hyundai badging with Genesis badging.

If the wings had Hyundai on them instead of Genesis I would still put the wings on because the wings look better.

It's not to disguise it as something other than a Hyundai. It's what the car originally came with in Korea as we all know.
To me it's putting things back to where they were in the first place.
I have zero issues informing random people that it is a Hyundai and it's my first Hyundai at that!
I could have bought a used BMW or Mercedes, but the upkeep of those cars is simply unappealing to me.
Besides, BMW's and Mercedes are as common as Hondas and Toyotas where I live.

I did it so I can enjoy the jaw dropping moment when I tell them it's a Hyundai after they ask what the hell kind of car is that.

Priceless to me...:D

Bit by bit Hyundai will change impressions, esp. w/ the younger folk, but some oldtimers too.

It's still a bit difficult for me to process the fact that Hyundai makes a full-blown luxury rig, and the behavior of others who encountered it tells me I'm not alone. I was continually amazed at the number of requests to sit in the vehicle by people I have never met before in my life. One elderly gentleman – who proved his love of automobiles by showing me a completely tricked-out Fiat 500 he had just purchased – went so far as to sit in the driver's seat. His wife smartly opted for the reclining rear passenger seat, where I showed her all the tricks that make the Equus a livery-ready passenger car. As a reward, I got to sit in the driver's seat of the 500. I can't say that I fit comfortably, so my new friends may have gotten the better end of the deal.

Interestingly, my three daughters and their friends seemed to be most impressed with the Equus, even going so far as to tell me that they want a Hyundai as their first vehicle. If you were wondering why Hyundai might bother with a $65,000 luxury sedan, know that it's clearly making its impact, and not just on my kids or neighbors.

With June in the books, the largest and most-lux of all Hyundai models is gone from my driveway and off to the next Autoblogger. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss it – even if I still have trouble processing the idea of a $65,000 Hyundai.
