  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Starting a knowledge base for negotiating and getting the best Genesis deal.

Regarding trade-in/sales tax: all, but 8 states, tax only the difference between the sale price and your trade-in price. So if sale price is $40K and trade-in is $20K, you will be taxed on $20K instead of $40K. In those 8 states where it is not the case it makes much more sense to sell privately or to another dealer.
Check this chart:

I love leaving in Maryland, but MD laws on sales tax for trade-in and leasing are killing good deals!

Just to keep this updated. Zag.com is a True Car company and apparently comes in less than Circle pricing.

Depends where you live. In my area Circle price is much less than Zag price.

it would seem this fitzgerald automall in MD is good place to buy from (read a few posts here and there) but they're 170mi away from me, maybe someone looking for a V8 '12 would like this? they advertise an Rspec as well, looks titanium but they are asking for MSRP (understandably for now).

it would appear they have a shiiite load of V8's on order, this looks to be one of a few in stock.

They will up to a point, usually 2g on credit card down for pymt. But it's up to each dealer invariably. Wish I could charge the whole amout the points I get with my sony visa would be crazy!

It will depend on a car and a dealer. One of the times I was allowed to put $6k for Infiniti, it was last day of March, last sale of the day!

Have you noticed that the price of 2012 V8 and 2012 V6 with tech in Florida fitzmall are practically identical? I wonder why is that?

the difference was $1500 or so right? I now the maryland dealer got rid of their last '11 V8 for $37,xxx (at least that was the internet price which includes the rebates and is quite low). I stopped by my dealer today (closed on Sundays in NJ) and took a few pics of '11 and '12 side by side from the front and found some interesting changes i though i knew what they changed but it went even further. in the pics the bottom opening where the radar or sonar whatever it is goes i much wider than the '11 and looks better. but as i stood there looking, i couldn't help but notice the chrome strip that runs around the perimeter of the opening, highlighting it. didn't like that compared to the '11.

I do love the rest of the front, bigger fogs, grille is straight not curved where it meets the wider center bar, the lights are growing on me too.

btw, sat in a '12 black V6 tech that was in front and unlocked and i don't know what others are talking about, i didn't feel any change in the seat, are they the same as before??

i also noticed they put a little "sliding keyhole" in the upper armrest so you can run the ipod or a phone charger through, cool. like the darker wood too, more elegant.

Found out you can use Motozuma account to fully use your cash back/point credit card to fund your car purchase. But use it if you can fund it.

I currently have 2% cash back card and it will be awsome getting approx $800 (Spending around $40k) along with $500 match from Hyundai.

Is the dealer going to let you put $40K of the purchase on a credit card? They have to pay at least a 2% fee to the credit card company.

I just said

Put money in Motozuma paying by credit card. <I get cash back>

Dealer gets money from Motozuma similar like check or transfer (More like latter based on Motozuma FAQ)

Not sure whether dealer have to pay motozuma additional fees

Hyundai provides additional $500 for us using Motozuma.

End

What is motozuma? How does it work? I would like to use it and am most likely going to get a genesis in August or September, but a used one. Does motozuma work for used genesis' as well? Also do you guys think I will be able to get a 2009 Genesis 4.6 for 23000. That is somewhat my limit.
i would check carmax out in your area they seem to be fairly priced.

in so cal, carmax is way overpriced.

I just went on motozuma.com, it seems like the program only works on new cars. Well at least it only says new, and does not specify used. Also I got around 3-4 dealers within 15 miles near me and they still price their used 2009 Genesis 4.6 around 29k or more. I will try to make them get to 21k first and if they don't budge i'll ask for free stuff and raise the price to a max of 23k.

That's a terrific idea! Especially if paying all by cash. But even if you pay a large down payment, it still makes a lot of sense in terms of cc points/miles/rewards....
I couldn't find anywhere on Motozuma if there is a limit of how much can be placed on an account.
I would also confirm with dealer if they do accept it before putting money on Motozuma, just to be safe. Off course, you can always close the account, but then you have you wait to get your money back.

I bet Hyundai dealer will accept it like as if they are getting cash from you.
Besides, HMA themselves commited on this program to give out $500.

Also cash back occurs at the time of deposit. Even if you have to close the account, you still get cash back.
I would not want to exploit this but this means there are no drawbacks in putting money in Motozuma it seems.

The only drawback is the $25 account closing fee - see their FAQ:

You can close your account through the Account Settings link on your profile page. A check will be sent to the address you provide. Please allow 6-8 weeks to receive your check in the mail. A closing fee of $25 will deducted from your account funds to cover shipping and handling.

I just joined the Hyundai Think Tank. It took 4 days to get a response from the moderator. It's a cool marketing concept from Hyundai. imo what ever money they may lose on circle is more than made up for by learning how to sell you, me and others.

If you already got cash back for $800 (given you deposit around $40,000), thats fair loss.

Okay, just to be clear. You deposited $40,000 into Motozuma on your card and have gotten $800 back.

Sorry if I missed something.
