  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

This is my first time posting here, but I have been in talks with a dealership in in central Texas about a new 2012 Genesis V6 with premium package.

I found the dealer using Zag.com and it was one of their certified dealers. They contacted me and told me they were about to get a genesis in of my specifications and I decided to go in and discuss it with them. I brought in my certificate I received from Zag.com and they told me that they would not honor it.

I have read the website front to back and from what I can tell, they are required to honor the certificate by the contract they signed with Zag.com. I am at a loss as of what to do now, I plan on going back in with screenshots of the website saying that they must honor the certificate or else lose their Zag.com contract.

Anyone else have similar issues or have any advise as to what to do?

Thank you!

No, but hang tough. Do not be afraid to get up from the chair and walk out. There are other dealers who will want your business at the price you want to pay. Tell them "are you willing to let a deal go south over this commitment that you are suppose to make being a zag dealer" then do not say another word. Stay silent. If they still refuse-walk out.

I had a dealer in N. Texas willing to walk away from a deal on another Hyundai model last week because the sales person misquoted a pinstrip price of $299 and later said it was $399 (they weren't even painted on as had been alluded to as said by my wife). Since the wife/daughter were handling the transaction they went ahead and got the vehicle the following day but I would have refused it (Circle price and all). I don't know if it's being stubborn or not being willing to bend over. Needless to say, when I'm ready for my '12 Genny later this year it won't be through that dealer but will be through one who has a rep on this site that was quick to respond to a PM here, even though it will be out of the way to get to him.

FYI, if you'll look around you can find an offer to join Hyundai Circle and then you don't have to negotiate and can probably get a better price anyway.

If the dealership is refusing to honor the Zag.com price, I am not sure that sounds like a dealership you would want to do business with. There are plenty of other dealerships in Texas that will honor the Zag price. Wait for them to get the new 2012's.

How does one go about finding an "offer to join Hyundai Circle"?

The ZAG price in S. CA ranges from 31,670 to 32,720 depending on the dealer. From that price you can also deduct all of the applicable rebates which in this case should take the 31,670 price down to 30,170. The price I paid three weeks ago was actually a couple hundred less than this price. I did qualify for the competitive rebate of 1500 as I am sure most people do. The quoted ZAG/AMEX pricing was slightly less than the circle price for this area.

Google and Sonata Turbo are your friend.

Go to the zag.com website and look for contact info. Then either call or e-mail or both stating the dealers name location and person specifically refused to honor their zag contract. Then if the greedy dealer does not comply with their own contract they would be quickly removed from the zag.com affiliation.

Below is a quote from the CEO of zag.com Scott Painter:
"Customers using the Zag program recieve a guaranteed upfront price on vehicles. So by the time they get to the dealership, they have already been given a price for the car as they have configured it. Every dealer registered in the program provides Zag with a pricing sheet for all vehicles available for purchase. All dealers have a contractual obligation to meet or beat the price they have listed. It is non-negotiable."

Sorry I wasn't able to get back sooner. Thanks for all the replys!

My Zag price for a Hyundai Genesis 2012 3.8 V6 with premium package was $37,615 ($2,270 below MSRP).

My plan is to go to the dealer tomorrow and speak to the manager. I have all the pages from Zag printed that say they are obligated to comply. And if they choose to still decline then I will report them to Zag and move on to another dealer.

instead of possibly wasting a trip, you should just call the sales manager. try to finalize the deal by phone or email before going to the dealer.

My Fitzmall quote from a $39,885 car was $35069 plus $499 dealer fee, 170 for tag transfer and tax. Hope this helps.

They were telling me it would be $40,8xx (including the appearance package that is around $1000 that they say is added to every Hyundai). So basically no discount at all.

Huh? What appearance package? thats bull....
Either be firm and accept no "additional" stuff or get out of there, it is a waste of your time.

Why pursue this any further? $37.6 for a 2010 V6?? You can get a 2011 V8 for less than that price!

It's been my experience that a lot of dealers won't honor the Zag pricing. They just use it as a way to get your contact info, as long as they can say there is something slightly differerent between the car you priced and the one they have they feel that changes the terms of the deal.

What about Hyundai Circle? Do most dealers honor it or find ways to increase the price?
