  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I know this is an odd question but here goes.
I have picked up my 2009 Genesis 4.6 with Tech package. Love it. It is CPO and I did find one issue. The steering wheel will tilt but not telescope. Oh well, off to dealer.

My problem is as follows:: car is black pearl exterior. i live on a farm: 1/4 mile limerock road to house than another 1/4 mile sand road to house, no garage yet!!

I have rented a storage unit 8 miles from the house till I get garage.
When I brought home car today I did stop at house to see how bad the dust would be. I drove at 5 MPH on the dirt and sand roads. Even at a snail's pace: very dusty car.

For now when I use the car 2-3 times a week Ill drive the 8 miles to town, park the truck ,take the Genny.

I am considering getting a "Handi House", its a 12x24 building suitable for use as a garage.

The problem: To get to the garage if i buy one will result in dust: not a problem, hose off at home, however going to work more dust as I drive from house. I dont want to be stopping to rinse my car in town but I dont want to drive a dusty car!!

Storage is $100/month. Handi House is $4500. So i can use storage for 4 years before coming close to cost of Handi House.

I like the idea of car at home but the dust!!

The 8 mile trip is not too bad but Im thinking it may get old.

What would you do in my situation short of buying a house on a paved road???

Interesting problem! Is the closest paved road to your house a half-mile away? If so, is there any option to park the Genesis near there? Personally, I'd find it tough to keep my car 8 miles from where I live - I'd be worrying about it all the time.

I live on 'gravel' also unfortunately, so I buy white or silver cars.. silver is best.

Trust me, you will get over the fact that your car gets dusty... black cars even in the city have to be washed near every day to maintain the wet gloss shine that looks so nice.

I have a cheap car wash in town, costs me $1 per day to hose it off on my to work in the city. You will start to appreciate rainy days! Saves me $1

An option would be to rent a garage nearer my house as long as there are no kids trying to get their bike in garage past my car!!

I know I'm being a bit anal. New car dust kills me. I suppose a quick $1.50 wash is not too bad and yes I like the idea of car at home!!
