  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Mirrors don't flip down on reverse, missing 12 feature?

I have a base 2012 V6 sedan. The manual says the mirrors should flip down on Reverse (yes I know the switch position not being in the middle). Is this feature just a Premium pack feature? Is it gone on the 2012's? Because for sure it does not work on my car.

Definitely not included with Base model. Not sure if it only comes with Premium Package or if Tech Package is required.

I have a 2011, and while I find it odd, the mirror flip down only works if the mirror adjust switch has one of the side mirrors selected but not in the center, locked position. Having to have one of the mirrors selected for adjustment all the time seems like an easy way to accidentally mess up the mirror position, but it hasn't been a problem at all.

Actually they do, so long as one has either mirror selected via control switch. Deselecting both mirrors prevents this feature from executing. Has nothing to do with Tech Package, IIRC.

One of the side mirrors have to be selected for them to flip down on reverse. If you have the button in the middle, it turns it off. Read the manual. :)

To be fair, the OP did say "(yes I know the switch position not being in the middle)." I don't know if the base model has the tilting mirrors, though you do need the premium package to get the folding mirrors. About the latter, the '11 manual says that the feature is there "if so equipped."

A propos of nothing, I found the tilting mirrors to be quite annoying and disabled them. To each his own, I guess.., ;)

Base model has folding mirrors, just not motorized. One less thing to break IMO. I only fold my mirrors when I approach a drive through ATM, etc, and my window is already open.
