  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi all,
I picked up my '12 Gray R spec last Friday night here in SoCal. Been doing a lot of reading here and other places before purchasing. I've only put a little over 150 miles on it so far but have been impressed with the car so far, espically the accelration for a big sedan. :)

I had my '08 G8 bought back under the lemon law and have had it with GM, hence the new purchase.

I'm a gear head at heart, but the boss says to leave this one alone. But I do have a few questions/ideas and will be running them buy you guys to see if they are doable.

See you around.

Congratulations! I still want to see some solid 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for this car. It's very impressive for it's size...

Uh-oh, I see trouble coming!!

Naw, I was told by the boss to leave this one alone. All I want to change is some apperance and comfort features. For now, the performance bug will stay in my pocket to be used on my other toys. ;)

Congrats! Welcome to the owners club!!

Couple of words of advice:

1. If the car pulls even slightly (particularly to the right), lean on your dealer to fix it. Whether it's due to shipping or whatever, many owners found that their car pulled from the factory.

2. When you start the car from cold, it will start at about 1200-1500 rpm idle, what some call the "high idle." Do not turn the car off before it comes out of this "high idle", which typically lasts 30 seconds or so. Doing so on the 4.6 has induced some unpleasant engine vibration on the next startup. They may have fixed this on the 5.0, but hey, it can't hurt to be cautious.

3. If you change those gawdawful R-Spec wheels, please post picts :-) (Yeah yeah, I know, this is subjective :-) ).

Thanks for the info.

1. No pulling yet. But I'll keep an eye on it. Had some similar problems with my G8 from being shipped over from down under so I'm aware that there may be problems.

2. Interesting. I did notice that on my first start up of the day, I get a vibration from the motor until in warms up and idles down. Then it's good for the rest of the day.

3. I kind of like the R Spec rims. ;)

You could at least try a K&N filter and let us know what you think. I've had mine for a little over a month and I'm astonished by the pickup this car has when flooring it while in motion.

I've had my r-spec for a couple weeks and have noticed the rough idle on warm up, fwiw. About 900 miles on it so far and still loving it!

Aquineas - thanks for the info. Was the fix for pulling a front end alignment or full wheel alignment?

Thanks
Newman
