  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When does Hyundai announce these? Do you guys think Hyundai will keep both the R-Spec & 4.6? I assume we probably won't see too many changes since they are planning complete redesign on 2014MY.

If there are only minor (or no) changes for MY 2013, they will probably show up in Sept-Oct of 2012. But those dates could be moved up if a brand new 2014 is released in Q1 of 2013.

Most people think the 4.6L will be replaced by the 5.0 (they are basically the same except for GDI added and bored-out cylinders), but not sure if the R-Spec will be the only Genesis with the 5.0 (as is the case in Canada for 2012).

I've been googling for some information about the redesign and AWD but that doesn't seem to exist yet. It looks like I should hold out for the 2014MY & AWD. I just hope they don't ruin it like Acura did with their pointy nose designs.

I will say one thing about Hyundai--they now have fairly nice looking cars, even if they steal the design elements from others (which doesn't bother me at all).

Acura, on the other hand, somehow became convinced that a unique and distinctive design is better than a good-looking design, and they have payed dearly for that.

I would agree. I like the exterior of current Genesis but I think they can still improve the interior design some.

Some of the things I'm hoping to see for 2014MY are (especially R-Spec):
- AWD
- More sportier and modern interior design
- Paddle shifters
- Dual suspension modes (sport/tour)

That's the correct assumption.

The next gen Genesis is scheduled for launch in 2013, but that could mean Q1 in Korea or later. Usually, US launches occur about 6 months later so depending on the date of the Korean launch, could be mid/late 2013 or even early 2014.

All new players in the lux game have gone w/ "conservative" designs since buyers aren't likely to accept a new design language in addition to a new luxury brand/car.

Hyundai has stated that the next gen Genesis will have a more unique design (hopefully, they will keep their luxury designs a bit diff. from their mainstream designs).

One thing tho, it's kinda funny how more and more automakers are flamesurfacing their grill slats - like what Hyundai did w/ the Genesis.

AWD has been confirmed and expect to see a more modern and more luxurious interior.

The interior design of the new Azera is better than the current Genesis so I would expect the new Genesis to be a good bit better.

Yes Grandeur 5G has pretty good interior. I also like what they did to improve the Genesis coupe for 2013 so I'm excited to see what they'll do for next Genesis. Hyundai has a lot of good things going for them.

Well we have already seen the new Genesis Coupe so it should be a matter of time before we see the new Genesis Sedan. Although I hope they look at raising the mpg. Isn't this kinda a short cycle though. This is 5 year and then a remodel already. Well I guess they have to because most of the competition have already came out, or is coming out with remodels. I am talking about 5 series, E class, and new GS next year.

New design isn't expected until MY2014 and Genesis is currently in MY2012.

Yeh, it makes no sense for a company to do a MY redesign (2012 Gen) released in 2011 and then release a new gen (2014) in 2013. There's usually 2 years or more years on the MY redesign right?

MY stands for Model Year and has nothing to do with whether a redesign of any type has been made. MY is to distinguish calendar year. For example the the 2010 MY was introduced in fall 2009 and replaced by 2011 MY introduced in fall of 2010. The Genesis Sedan for 2009, 2010. 2011, 2012 are all different Model Years, regardless of when they are introduced (according to calendar date) and regardless of whether there are any changes at all from one Model Year to the next.

You are saying that the MY 2012 refresh means that a major Genesis revision will not be introduced as a MY 2014? I have no personal knowledge about this, but your logic seems to contradict your own statements about the "2 years".

The "new" coupe is a mid-cycle refresh, albeit a substantial one.

Hyundai is working on a rather short cycle for its lineup (usually 5 yrs).
