In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. they are not coilover ... only shock + spring ...

i would buy H&R coilspring instead of this " kdm combo "

I just recently sent Eric at K-Sport some photos of my existing coilovers as well as the OEM shocks so that they can see what they look like in terms of the mounts.

The rear dampers appear to be the same on the coupe and sedan but the front damper mounts and stabilizer mount are completely different.

Hopefully all they need to do is manufacture different mounts to work with the sedan. Since they are coilovers, the mounts can simply be removed and replaced with new mounts.

Eric said he was forwarding my information and photos off to someone at K-Sport but I have no idea as to whether there is any progress being made at this point. I even offered to send them my OEM struts so they could use them to develop off of but they never responded to me about it. I will have to continue to follow up as I have a set of their Coupe coilovers in my possession that they are supposed to either swap out or provide me new mounts for once something is available.

I don't know much mechanically as to how something like this is designed and built but I wouldn't think this is too difficult for a coilover manufacturer to come up with. The ARK coilovers I have right now obviously fit correctly, the only problem I have with them is that damping is completely shot now. They could probably be rebuilt which I may have to see about doing if no one comes up with something new.

I don't know what the problem with BC Racing prototypes is or how difficult it would be to fix. Perhaps it's just a matter of these manufacturers not having a car at their disposal to test on? BC Racing did ask to use my car at one point but I'm a couple of thousand miles away so that wouldn't work.

Maybe I should learn how to build custom coilovers and sell them myself:rolleyes:

Interestingly, I came across this site that has Genesis parts for both the Coupe and Sedan. Listed on the page were a set of TEIN coilovers which when you click on them say they are for the coupe.

http://nopi.com/dsp_part_detail.php?&vnopinum=493+4403&vt=m&vpcid=

If you look at the image, the mounts on these are not what are used on the coupes but instead exactly match that of the sedan.

If you look at the following site, it shows another set of TEIN coilovers for the coupe which correctly matches the type of mounts used on this car.

http://www.vividracing.com/catalog/tein-basic-coilovers-hyundai-genesis-coupe-p-116055.html

This begs the question, "Does TEIN actually make a set of coilovers that fit the sedan?" The two part numbers on both sites are the same although clearly one set is different than the other and looks like sedan parts. I've never seen them listed before and I don't know where the picture in the first link came from but those look exactly like my ARK coilovers. The only part I can't see is the stabilizer bar mount on the front damper as it would be on the opposite side.

May be worth looking into further.

Just got off the phone with BC RACING and they don't have any plans on making a coilover for the SEDAN... WTF is going on...

Wow, this is unbelievable! I have contacted them a few times over the last several months and they kept telling me that they were working on them and hope to release them soon. Here is what I was told just last month:

We are still in the testing and development phase. I do not have any additional information as far as a time frame yet. Please check back with us soon and, hopefully, I will have some better news for you. Thank you.

We obviously know that they have gone as far as to make prototypes that @motorsportsauthority has which would confirm the response that I received that they were in testing. Now they are saying that they won't be releasing anything at all?

First Stance pulled out after also working on a system and now BC Racing. What is this telling us? Either there is something about these cars which is keeping manufacturers from being able to build something which I can't believe, or they simply feel that there is not a market for them. Perhaps they think that nobody would want to put coilovers on a Hyundai Genesis sedan and that there would be no return on their investment?

I'm still waiting on any type of response from K-Sport. I was last told that they would get back to me on the progress after they talk with the main factory but that was a couple of weeks ago.

As an update, I just shipped out one each of my OEM shocks to K-Sport so that they can do some measurements. They told me that they definitely want to move forward with getting something available and so hopefully now that they will have some shocks to design from, we might see something soon.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Too bad bc won't make a coil over for the sedan. You can select spring rates for the type of driving you do. KSport is ok, wonder if they make a bbk for the genesis:cool:

Hi,

I received a set of SMA suspension coilover system.

can't wait to install them

they seam ok and they are very different of my bc racing coiloveer of my older genny coupe

UPDATE: Since I can't get my car down to BC and BC can't fly up here (both been super swamped), BC has rented a Sedan to finalize the specs. They'll start with the specs from the prototype on mine and my info and go from there to finalize it. They STILL have plans on making the kit...so be patient. It's COMING!

Im interested in more information about this, please at least keep me up to date. thank you.

Problem solved, guys! The Megan Racing Street Series Coilovers are FINALLY here! I have just posted the ad for them in the vendors section. Please take a look. Quantities are extremely limited and I have the entire run of them.

Do they have one for the V8.

I know this is an old thread but I am hearing the Megan ones can't support the weight of the V8.

The springs look ridiculously compressed when installed.

And they ride that way. The car bottoms out on any minor irregularity of the road over an inch in height. I took the Megan's off, and am still hoping to find a coilover that offers a better ride for my 2010 3.8 sedan

That's because Megan's are complete junk. People that want their car to ride like shit and don't know how a quality suspension is supposed to feel buy Megans and K-Sports. The unfortunate part is that there is very little in the way of out of the box coilover setups that are worth the money.

If one were so inclined to do the leg work and spend the money, you could have a custom Bilstein or Koni setup, but you're looking somewhere in the neighborhood of $2~3k. That gets you custom valved dampers with threaded bodies and matching springs at a spring rate of your choosing for the front, and appropriately valved dampers for the rear with collars and springs of your choosing in the back. Typically the guys that spend that sort of money are doing so on cars that will be used in auto-X or road race and not 4000 lb Hyundai's that will see nothing but daily driving. So in the mean time, I would go with the BC's. From my experiences, their setups aren't bad at all. You can choose a spring rate of your choosing and even opt for Swift springs if you so choose.

BC Coilovers for the 09+ Genesis Sedan
BC Coilovers for 2012-2012 R-Spec Sedan

I have a set of BCs on my 2009 4.6 and it rides pretty well and not just for being on coilovers. Better than my 90K shocks that I took off. Only issue I have is I didn't realize I got the V6 kit which has 6K front springs and 8K rear which to me seems too soft even for the V6. I do get some rub over larger bumps but only on my summer wheels that are 9.5 inches wide. TheSpec set has 14K/10K which seems to be a much better choice for the weight of the car and the rear springs are also a bit longer as the highest setting on the rear has my rear tires slightly tucking into the fenders. I ended up buying the R--Spec springs and front struts inserts to convert my set as those are the only differences. Hopefully installing in the next week.
