Yes, a little, becasue the Genesis 17" wheels use 55 aspect ratio tires and the Genesis 18" wheels use 50 aspect ratio tires (assuming standard sizes are used). The diameter of both wheels (with tires mounted) is the same, so you are getting 1" extra rubber on tire to make up for 1" smaller rim (or really 1/2" extra rubber between rim and road).I am thinking of replacing my Dunlops (which now have for only 8500 miles on them) for Michelin Energy Savers or Conti DWS to improve the ride quality on rough Chicago area roads and to give me better traction in snow this winter. Would the ride quality on my 2010 4.6 also improve if I downsized wheels from 18" Dunlops to 17" Michelin or Conti?
For the best possible ride, I would look at some other Michelin besides the Energy Savers such as Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus for 18" wheels or the Michelin Primacy MXV4 for 17" wheels, or the Goodyear Assurance ComforTred. Energy saver tires get a little better MPG, but are not the absolute best in ride comfort (although the Michelin ones are pretty good).
